I'm no fan of the DLC, but if I were Emperor of the Universe, I would vaporize the current Republican party and split the Dems into the DLC Republican party and the Democratic wing of the Democratic party.
The DLC is simply moderate Republicans without the stomach for outright destruction of government for the People on the way to government by the corporations.
But...Harold nees a job and this one suits him rather well, actually. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing...well...

That's surprising, but I
That's surprising, but I guess not really so surprising, news. I used to think of myself as a DLC Democrat, I guess because we did so well on Clinton's watch. No so much any more, but I believe they can still play a role in helping moderate the more "socialist" wing of the party.
I'd say if you went back and
I'd say if you went back and looked at Barry Goldwater's record, you would see a fine example of a DLC Democrat, except for a little less pandering to corporations.
I'll try to get around to writing about my thoughts on the "socialist" aspects of government at some point. The short version is that I have come around to thinking that certain functions are best served by entities that the right wing would brand socialist...rail service, the mail, social security, etc. But America serves it's constituents, who are people not corporations in theory, with a mix of governmental forms and entities. The Military, after all, is quintessentially Communist in form.
