This time, a UMD volunteer is arrested by TVA police. RoaneViews breaks the story, with a UMD video/report in the comments. This is Not Good.
And can someone explain to me how a "corporation" has a police force with arrest powers? Are they authorized to use deadly force, too? Once again, TVA is a "corporation" when it's convenient and a federal agency when they want to arrest private citizens on a public road.
The residents of Roane County appear to have been very patient with TVA. Running a police state is not going to sit well with the community.

What the hecks going on over
What the heck's going on over there in Roane County? What is this, Deliverance? These officers of the government are not only hurting these people "not from around here", but they are hurting the confidence and trust of local residents that have lived in the area for many years.
:(
TVA cops do have the jurisdiction. They make DUI arrests here in Bristol all the time.
But that jurisdiction is limited to TVA establishments and an unknown radius unless they witness a crime as far as I know.
They even have quiet, electric boats to sneak up on folks at South Holston.
I write the Obama people once every week concerning the fact that the TVA needs an enema. I hope others are as well.
I think I'll start writing Steve Cohen too. He may be in a better position to act.
RoaneViews is now reporting
RoaneViews is now reporting the UMD guy was denied bail and is being moved to another county. What's next, terrorism charges?
Holy moly! With the TVA
Holy moly! With the TVA police on the loose, I suppose there should be signs on the interstate to avoid that area for a while.
TVA Cops
I see the TVA police around downtown Knoxville all the time. I still remember them standing on the Towers balcony looking like snipers when the Brazillian Girls played at Sundown in 07. It was an eerie sight, don't know if they've done that at other shows, I just noticed it then, they were a racy group. Speaking of rogue cops, that secuirty guard shooting sounded scary as well. Two hours or so gun training is not much.
The worst is that elected
The worst is that elected official are doing nothing. I guess if it doesn't affect them or their chekbooks, they don't care.
I don't remember hearing wingnuts' objections to TVA cops
I remember some of my right-wing friends used to rail against EPA officials having authority to be armed and to make arrests. These were "land rights" gun nuts who think the GSMNP is under UN control due to its inclusion as a biosphere reserve.
