NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)

Governor Bill Lee, a Republican, wants more charter schools in Tennessee. But his public partnership with conservative Hillsdale College is drawing disapproval among public school education advocates, pastors, and parents.

The controversial religious leaning charter school could be coming to Tennessee neighborhoods soon after a new school funding formula is passed into law.

Charter schools are the more palatable versions of vouchers on the path to corporate privatization of public schools.

Why do you suppose that is?

It's because public education is the last remaining treasure trove of taxpayer funds that corporate raiders haven't yet plundered.

All this crap about "choices," "better outcomes," "critical race theory," "more bible" etc. is just noise to distract from the real goal. It's all about the Benjamins.

Gov. Bill Lee is just an easy mark and useful idiot being used to get a foothold in a gullible state. And he doesn't even know it, because he thinks governmenting turns out to be even easier than selling hvac, and he for some reason thinks he can be president because small time grifters told him so.

This is serious business, y'all. Not sure what we can do, but if you see an opportunity RESIST!

Not sure how much good this will do.........

But the Mayor is in charge of setting the budget. If elected, there will be no line item in the budget for charter schools. I will stand against those trying to privatize means of public good and service.

Gov Lee embarrassed?

Three school boards (Rutherford, Montgomery, and Madison counties) all voted in the past week to reject applications from a Hillsdale-affiliated group to open the privately-operated schools in their communities.
...
"NewsChannel 5 Investigates asked Lee why those school board votes should not be seen as a repudiation of his vision of Hillsdale being a key part of his "school choice" efforts.

"It shouldn't be seen that way because it's not my vision," Lee claimed, adding that his vision is "to create the best public school system in the country."
