Look how far the East Town
Look how far the East Town location dropped once it was moved out of the mall. It went from being a solid 2nd highest number of votes (regularly close to being the highest), to a distant 3rd place.
Thank you Amy Broyles and Jim Gray.
god bless
Lee Greenwood (not verified),
East Towne Centre had flaws as a public polling site. It was bound to end sometime as some of the mall's policies conflict with the broader regulations of our Election Commission rules.
Shouldn't you be out stirring up another war to bring your career back on the charts?
Yep, after 10+ years it
Yep, after 10+ years it ended, thanks to the problems caused by Amy Broyles and Jim Gray. Take away the problems, the polling location would've stayed open, and thousands more people would've voted there. It really is a shame.
tired.....
...of it. They moved the location across the street. Want to blame someone? Blame the mall or quick b*tching and change the rules.
Just Johnny,
with all due respect, I'm not the one who messed it up. Those who did are the ones who should address it.
That location worked, whether it was the Ds, the Rs, the Greens, the Whigs, the Tories, or whatever party was on the ballot for 10+ years until 2 people came along and in their passion got it booted out for all races going forward.
And the current polling place? It is available until only the landlord can rent it out, and then the election commission will be looking for some place else.
So are we better served by having fewer people turn out to vote?
10 years
For ten years East Town Mall worked fine as a site. People knew for sure that it was always there. Then the villiage idiot Jim Grey decided that his "constitutional right" to pass out flyers to voters was more important the the convenience of tens of thousands of people.
Now I see why he was forced to quit as chairman.
Oh, wait, He "quit" because of term limits - 12 years after they were passed.
tired....
...old...news.
Lets look at the positives here:
1) The University Center on campus had three strong days of early voting --that wasn't available last time.
2) The Expo Center also had three strong days of early voting --that wasn't available last time.
3) The mall is the one who got mixed in the middle and rightfully got pissed for being a pawn. Blame that on whoever you like
All in all, KCEC done, and is doing, a really nice job. Perhaps we'll have even more early voting locations (and days) next go around.
You can b*tch and gripe and be part of the problem, or, you can get involved and make things better.
Jim Gray
All I know is this:
If Jr. loses by two thousand votes we have Jim Gray to thank.
Nonsense
"If Jr. loses by two thousand votes we have Jim Gray to thank."
I don't know why I am even bothering to reply to this nonsense but ... One early voting site isn't going to make a difference. George would have to show how the folks that didn't vote there didn't vote at all, let alone vote anywhere else or that they didn't wait until Tuesday. George can't do that so he's just blowing smoke.
Jim Gray is not responsible for the situation that caused the voting site to move. That happened becuase several incumbent politicians took advantage of every little trick they could to surpress, redicule and demonize the "Orange Vote" effort. In the case of George and Mr. Greenwood (who needs to make more music - I really liked it and don't understand why he stopped) they bought into the lie and are now repeating it ad nuasem to provide an excuse for what they think is going to happen. Both are good men, both need to stop taking idiot pills.

I missed the vote for establishing EastTowne Mall in the first place. And I don't like special consideration in early voting going to this demographic of mall walkers and merchants... I favor biscuit eaters and petition the Commission to set up early voting 100 ft outside all bakeries in the county!
Biscuit eaters are true believers and would ensuring more consistent results than mall walkers. I stick by this!!
Offered in the interest of improving domestic tranquility.

What planet is the Mule on ?
Mule thinks : "Jim Gray is not responsible for the situation that caused the voting site to move"
Jim Grey was the one who organized people to pass out flyers in the mall. The end result was to close down the site at East Town. The Mall does not and will not allow anyone to solicit or pass out material for anything: politicians, Hare Krishnas, The Clan.
No one.
For 10 years there was an unspoken agreement. No campaign workers at the Mall. Yankee Jim had to assert his "rights" to pass out stuff for Amy Brolyes. You see what good it did her.
Grey and Mule do not understand. A voter gets on the bus to go to the Mall. They plan to vote while they are there. The site has been moved "across the street" to East Town Crossing. Mule and/or Yankee Jim just get in their Avalons and drive over. The lady on the bus can't walk there. She has to catch her bus back. She says "I'll do it later". A vote for Jr. lost.
Look at the numbers Mule.
When less people from East Knoxville vote how does that help the Democrats?
check the numbers...
....the KCEC released voter turnout results based on precinct. Has anyone crunched these numbers for east Knoxville to see if the vote is up or down?
I'd suggest you do, then go canvassing to GOTV. No one is doing any good b*tching about such things here. If your looking for someone to blame for something, blame yourself. You could be helping, instead, your barking about things that can't be undone.
The person named you, which is mentioned through my comment, isn't pointed at anyone and it is pointed at everyone. Folks, we only have ourselves to blame if democrats don't vote.
Just Johnny. . .

Indeed.
incredibly sad
his "constitutional right" to pass out flyers to voters was more important the the convenience of tens of thousands of people.
Convenience vs. Constitutional rights, and Dempster sides with convenience.
make your move
Why don't you solicit support for changes to bring the Mall's policies in line or try changing the Election Commission rules? Quit blaming the legitimate claims of those who found flaws in the process.
Your posts are as played out as your anthem. Maybe a tour of Iraq would lift your spirits.
East Town
I voted at the new East Town location and found it much better than the mall. We can park closer and do not have to do the mall walk to the voting site. Plus, I would much rather wander through Home Depot than Penny's.
Thank you Greg McKay for finding a great site for us in East Knox!
(I bet the stores in the mall would have like to see those 10,441 voters passing by their store windows and doing some shopping. Too bad the mall owners were such stinkers.)
Lee, You blame them for
Lee,
You blame them for exercising their rights? What country do you want to live in?
