Former Vice President Al Gore was at the University of Tennessee's Thompson-Boling Arena today to give a commencement address to graduates of the U.T. College of Arts and Sciences and to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws and Humane Letters in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
A handful of protesters, seen above, showed up to express their displeasure with Al Gore and the honorary degree, which has been quite controversial among the East Tennessee anti-illuminati. Apparently, global warming is a fake-science plot to promote one world government. Two police officers (KPD I believe) were on hand to maintain order.

I don't think I want to
I don't think I want to embiggen the picture of the guy in plaid shorts. Yuck.
I don't get the Jimmy Carter sign.
I don't get the Jimmy Carter
I don't get the Jimmy Carter sign.
I didn't either. I guess they don't believe Carter was a nuclear engineer. Also, Randy said Carter had a little trouble saying nuclear as did W. I don't remember it, but it has been a long time.
Let's see what happens with
Let's see what happens with the alumni contributions, which have been tailing away in favor of corporate contributions over the past 3 or 4 years. Gore will be the next UT president, residing in Nashville, with the UT offices relocated to the new Pinnacle building in downtown Nashville.
Why does Billy Haslam's campaign sign make me want to pull into Pilot and buy a Coca Cola?
Gore will be the next UT
Gore will be the next UT president,
Since your name is Ragsdale, I'll bet you a lobster dinner at Regas that Gore IS NOT the next UT president.
I know Carter didn't actually
I know Carter didn't actually have a degree in nuclear engineering, just coursework and navy training. Poor comparison, but what do you expect.
Elaine Pasto's (the woman
Elaine Pasto's (the woman with the sign) husband is a Tea Party activist/organizer and Heritage Foundation member, and they have some nerve making fun of Jimmy Carter. Pasto has published at least one letter to KNS calling himself a scientist - he's an engineer at ORNL who got some graduate training in ceramics and metals. His letter to KNS equated Climate science with forecasting the weather. The words "intellectual giant of the community" do not stand out in one's mind while reading his thoughts on climate change.
(Also cute to see Tea Party folks making fun of mispronounced words....)
Yaaawn.
Yaaawn.
Priceless
So if all the protestors are pictured, that means that 2 officers were sent to protect against 8 protestors? Nice ratio.
The guy in the plaid shorts says it all.
Be careful
You know how dangerous those tea partiers are.
(link...)
Why?
Is there no comment on the guy adjusting something in his baggy shorts? Is that a nonverbal comment that I as a female just don't understand?
It, and his nonverbal comment, looks uncouth to me.
That's it
Excellent descriptor, Tess.
algorerythims
Lord Monckton said it best:"its a mickey mouse university".Halloran Hill Show friday morning.
.
"He has a degree in classics."
Which ironically makes him as qualified as you.
.
Does Lord Monckton have "qualifying exam in climatology"? Because that single exam in about all that you have over Lord Monckton.
Someone ask me the other day if you were a troll. They were new to KnoxViews. I just told them you were an expert and left it at that. They asked me if I was kidding. I think you just cleared that up.
These fools just bring more shame to Tennessee
And since that huge crowd of 8 wants to show their total ignorance, they should be made to turn their signs around and parade on Cumberland for at least 6 hours.
And the new signs, after they look up the words, should say:
"I have NO Degrees,
and, um, I can't find my Birth Certificate".
Directions for marching: The males should ALL grab at their crotches and the female could bump and grind while attempting to get lots of attention.
It's a beautiful thing
I just made #9's comments all disappear on this thread with the "ignore user" button! The thread looks sooo much better now!
?
Wonder what we can do about that "body of work" accumulating over at the KNS site, under the "B.T. Justise" moniker?
