AI (artificial intelligence) is a hot topic. It's more important than ever for us to demand reality when dealing with just about everything in our lives. A presidential election is near and we must be able to discern between true and false. Trust but verify.
"Generative A.I. can already be a tool for misinformation. Soon, it could be a risk to jobs. Somewhere down the line, tech’s biggest worriers say, it could be a risk to humanity.
“It is hard to see how you can prevent the bad actors from using it for bad things,” Dr. Hinton said."
"some of the biggest names in tech signed an open letter urging the world’s leading artificial intelligence labs to pause training their super-powerful computer systems for six months, arguing that recent advances in AI present “profound risks to society and humanity.”
The European Union is looking to regulate the use of AI. The EU’s Artificial Intelligence Act could ban certain uses of AI like facial recognition technologies...
"But Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella isn’t worried..."
"Microsoft has done its best to mitigate unintended consequences of AI. "
"Nadella argues that AI can democratize access to new skills, helping displaced workers find new jobs."
WIRED magazine outlines how they will use AI.
Is it something the government needs to regulate? Who knows. Probably Either way, right now we need to demand declarations of AI usage from every business and government entity.
