TEMA reports the death toll from this last storm to be 27. With no disrespect for those who lost loved ones I need to point out the big error in this reporting.

Lloyd, Greg, Ronnie, Randy- all were well loved friends of my dear friends. All unreported in the State's 'official' count because their homes were tents or public shelters. Knowing this year's Winter exposure-related death toll currently stands at 8 in Nashville alone, statewide the storm toll is likely double what you see being reported.

You just have to understand who counts and who does not.

The homeless population is

The homeless population is certainly at increased risk during any kind of severe weather. I'm not sure where you are talking about specifically, but I would like to clarify that as of this morning, none of our homeless service agencies or public safety agencies have any reports of weather-related deaths in Knoxville in recent weeks. The service providers and law enforcement work very hard during bad weather to find and assist anyone who needs shelter. The shelters open up even to people who have been barred from them for various reasons.

Obviously, we encourage anyone who is aware of someone in need -- or of any deaths -- to please make reports either to law enforcement or to the service providers.

I will say good for

I will say good for Knoxville. It does not change the fact TEMA is not reporting at a minimum the four weather related deaths of these men in the Nashville Metro. I doubt the tally will include those individuals who are experiencing homelessness and are either currently hospitalized or soon to be hospitalized from weather related issues and fail to recover.

I definitely understand the

I definitely understand the concern, just making sure people know that we're not at the moment aware of any in Knoxville. There were some misconstrued reports on social media about that over the last few days.
