In this interview, commentator Donny Duetsch of CNBC hypes Sarah Palin as the perfect product to sell the "new" feminism, a product that is now being manufactured in Conservative think tanks. The statement that "most women want to be like her, and most men want to mate with her" is very telling. Duetsch who is obviously only capable of seeing women as sexual objects still has hit upon a point here. Aided by an almost rabid element of die-hard-Hillary voters who have spent the last few weeks bashing any woman who voted for, or will vote for, Barack Obama, the Republicans are now trying to repackage feminism with the main goal of branding Sarah Palin as the "new" kind of femiinist. One they hope these dis-heartened crones will embrace.
Mainly they mean a conservative Christian. The kind of woman who smells of fresh bread dough and gun powder, who even though she dropped a baby 3 days before, is seen at her desk looking perky and ready for more bill signing. There she is! Superwoman and Wonderwoman all rolled into one sexy package.
The only problem is that the sales pitch is mainly being designed by Republican conservative men. Too many intelligent women have already moved beyond the shock of the "pit-bull wearing lipstick" image to begin vetting Palin's actual values, experience, and political intentions. No marketing strategy the Republicans can devise will sell most feminists on Sarah Palin. She simply doesn't stand for issues these women hold sacred and have fought hard to defend. No matter how glitzy and new the packaging and marketing strategies, Sarah Palin is no Susan B. Anthony.

Jon Stewart covered this well...

This is America
Why is it that when a woman is successful in this nation that someone has to knock her down? It can be a man, another woman, another group of feminists, any number of people but the truth is that Governor Palin is a governor-something that clearly states that she is successful. Why the jealously? So what if some talk show host says something about what the Governor represents to him, it's his opinion and that it is all that is and after all, this is America. Let him have his opinion.

Good question. I don't know. Ask Hillary Clinton. Or my wife. Maybe one of them knows.
And about twice as elite as a U.S. senator
Thanks for providing the local version of what Jon Stewart was talking about in the above clip. You obviously didn't view it.
Community Organizing
I'm still pissed with the comments about community organizers. Here's what one looks like you bunch of Godless Republicans!

Be careful
I think we need to be careful who is called "godless" in any election here in America. There's a reason that we have the free exercise of religion as we do and we need to leave it alone when it comes to elections. Besides, Christ did not come to be a community anything, he came as a sacrifice for humanity and to offer true hope that lasts.
Praise .............?
So he is the Second Coming?

Are you sure you want to compare churches?
As I've said, what I'm
As I've said, what I'm surprised at is the apparent Democratic inactiveness when it comes to pointing out that 1) McCain's message of change was stolen from the Democrats and 2) Palin believes that if you are a 13 year old incest victim, or a victim of a gang rape, the government will force you to carry the baby.
So far, I've heard nothing from the Democrats attacking these positions. That, I believe is a strategic mistake.
So far, I've heard nothing
And you never will Gary. They dont want to alienate anyone so they take the moderate to "conservative" (at least in their eyes) route. Just look at leadership of Pelosi (not to pick on her but she stands out). She is a complete and total failure. The Progressives of the Democratic party need to split up and form their own party.
*edit- throw Obama in as well. He backed off on drilling and FISA because he was afraid it would cost him some votes. (I'm still voting for him anyway...having Mccain/Quayle-Palin in office would be an 8 year nightmare).
Since Obama believes in &
Since Obama believes in & has argued for the right to set your baby on a shelf & let it die ii it doesn't meet your standards he probably wants to leave that subject alone. Smart move on his part.
They dont want to alienate
They dont want to alienate anyone so they take the moderate to "conservative" (at least in their eyes) route.
On the one hand, I can understand taking that route when it comes to governing. After all, we are aware of those who can work together and compromise in order to create governmental policy that makes things better, even if it doesn't make everyone perfectly happy. Otherwise, we have public officials who make politics a priority over representation and legislation.
On the other hand, who is advising the Obama campaign that they should act like Palin is acceptable in such a high office? Don't they understand that by doing that they are only giving her credibility, and as a result, possible votes ?

That post is pretty good.
That post is pretty good. She calmly and rationally explains why she doesn't think Palin is a good VP selection. Who'd a thunk it could be done?

An excellent must-read. Thanks.
Smart move on his
Smart move on his part.
It's a smarter move on Palin's and McCain's part though, to keep their mouths shut concerning her belief that the victims of rape or incest should be forced to carry the babies of the perpetrators.
I know of no women, including Republicans, who support such draconian measures. Of course I guess James "Don't Focus on Palin's Family" Dobson does.
He condemns campaign finance regulation because he claims it attacks freedom of speech, but he doesn't mind treating women like livestock when he desires to regulate the lives of others.
