Pam Strickland will be writing the Friday "liberal" column for the Knoxville News Sentinel. Congratulations, Pam!
We're glad to see the KNS is finally filling this slot on a more permanent basis after the departure of Don Williams. It's about the only dose of progressive you'll get in Knoxville media.
UPDATE: Jack McElroy...

We're looking forward to publishing Pam's views. She's a seasoned journalist who will add a much needed dimension to our coverage of local and state issues.

strong field
Thanks, metulj. It was, indeed, a strong field. East Tennessee is blessed with talented writers like you and Pam, which made our job a difficult one. Thanks for being gracious and don't hesitate to pitch a guest column my way when the spirit moves you.

Congrats, Pam. I look forward to your articles. Good luck on not getting too crazy for them.
Yes
A fine choice in my opinion. Look forward to reading the columns. Scott, you done good.
Thanks
My, my y'all are up and about early. And I see that the fine comment crowd over at knoxnews.com have already taken me to task without having read the first word I've written. It's going to be interesting that's for sure.
Seriously, I'm honored. It's a big responsibility to represent all of the liberal/progressives in the region, and I know that I won't be far enough left for many and will be too far left for others. My goal is to be able to start a dialogue, to truly represent the fact that there are people like me who grew up in East Tennessee who are left-minded and see things through a non-conservative prism.
And right now, I have to midday deadline for a Friday column.
Thanks again for your kind words.
taskmaster
That's right, Pam. Stop wasting time acknowledging nice people on local message boards and get back to work!!

I never got my "ignore you" fixed...somebody HELP me!
I am thrilled that we liberal activists will now have a legitimate voice...I have been begging for this to happen. And now, Pam, the bitter will have a new target to aim at...this week I was called an "idiot". Last month I was "a danger to our country" for puttin' down the TEAs. Thank god we can have another liberal voice. Greg Johnson needs to be put in his place...yippee, and a female, liberal voice, to boot!
Yay!
Congrats, Pam! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you!

A much needed addition to the editorial page - and a wonderful pick! Good work, Scott. Congrats, Pam!
