Good for David!
Congratulations David!
I hear there's a bubba guy from South Knoxville does a bit of 'blog writing. Reckon he could get a mention?
Surely next year it will be Cormac McCarthy wins this? :-)
Or do they have to continue to reside here?

Thanks, Bubba. Glad you
Thanks, Bubba. Glad you picked up Don's notice. As Awards Chair for the Guild, I was proud to nominate David. He was publishing books, while still a working cop, at a time when nobody but folks in the academy had books published. He has strong national recognition for his mystery writing with books that have become cult classics. Plus all those newspaper columns and some funny memoirs.
What you don't mention is that Katie Allison Granju will be on our community panel discussing technology that writers need to know. Also, there are Cyn Mobley, who will talk about print-on-demand publishing and Allen Wright, who will talk about using the web for more than a blog. They'll talk about the basics, but also about cutting edge issues.
Will also be honoring our contest winners. MC'd by Jennifer Alexander of B 97.5. Catered by Element Catering, which does Southern food with Asian and French touches. We're writers so we know how to throw a party -- one and all are welcome to join us. Check out the link Bubba gave, or PM me.
As for Cormac. Well, we prefer to honor folks who have spent the bulk of their life and career in East Tennessee. I hope that doesn't upset him too much.
