Commenting on the Komen reversal RE breast cancer screening at Planned Parenthood, Senator Campfield makes the claim that abortion causes breast cancer. He has a website link to prove it. "It's on the internet so my version of science is true" should be Campfield's slogan.
Dispensing medical information from such a high pulpit as State Senator, Campfield should rely on established authorities like the National Institute of Health or the National Cancer Institute, for instance. But he will not. Only dishonesty will serve his intentions.
The National Cancer Institute refutes Senator Campfield's claim unequivocably:
In February 2003, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) convened a workshop of over 100 of the world’s leading experts who study pregnancy and breast cancer risk. Workshop participants reviewed existing population-based, clinical, and animal studies on the relationship between pregnancy and breast cancer risk, including studies of induced and spontaneous abortions. They concluded that having an abortion or miscarriage does not increase a woman’s subsequent risk of developing breast cancer.
This misinformation is, not surprisingly, making the rounds on FOX news as well.

Good grief. Is he determined
Good grief. Is he determined to completely self-destruct? Cause running around in Mexican wrestling masks and trying to join the Black Caucus are one thing. Spreading misinformation about public health issues is quite another.
People are not amused.
Unfortunately, Campfield is
Unfortunately, Campfield is not alone with this particular bit of misinformation. Over the past 7 years, numerous religious-right nut jobs, particularly rrnj's in government and pregnancy crisis centers, have tried pushing this misinformation.
Even Bush the lesser edited the National Cancer Institute in 2002 to reflect there was a link between abortion and breast cancer. Rep Henry Waxman was a champion trying to end this dangerous line of thought/coercion.
It is FALSE information, and as far as I'm concerned, anyone that continues to push this falsity should be charged with being a danger to the general public.
Oh, for the love of...
Does this man not have any handlers who can pull him back from the precipice?
His only "handler" appears to
His only "handler" appears to be Terry Frank, whose name frequently pops up with his on Google searches. A woman named Terry was the first caller to the Hallerin Hill show last week after Martha Boss had been on air, and worked her way down a list of Campfield defenses. It was pretty professional-grade spin doctoring.
Her devotion to Stacey is all the more impressive (if that's the right word) considering that she's middle of campaigning to be the Republican nominee for the office of Anderson County mayor.
What a creep. The guy is a
What a creep. The guy is a danger to society.
Why does the Commandment
Why does the Commandment "Thou shalt not have gay sex" overwhelm the one that says "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness"?
*
What strikes me is that this is the second time this week he's gone head-to-head with another government agency on a health issue about which only the agency is qualified to speak.
Last week, he was blogging to dispute the Knox County Health Department and this week it's the National Cancer Institute.
Surely, surely that kind of behavior is something the legislature can and should censure???
And only ONE person in politics in TN had the courage!
I mean only ONE had the guts to stand up and call for his censure. MY County Commissioner has had enough of being embarrassed around the UNITED STATES by this lunatic's continuous reciting his warped, criminal, and dangerous opinions on human sexuality...with his LIES and hate speech that has caused the deaths of 3 young people in this State of Hate against the LGBT community. The rest of local and State politicians continue to claim 'he is funny'...a joke...has a right under our First Amendment to spout his idiocy, his hate of women and gays. Haslam, Burchett, and the entire Legislature should 'man up' and tell him to shut up. Most of them even gave to his campaign just to keep a Republican in that Seat...they didn't care who, obviously. And yes, he is about to go off the edge and needs psych help. Thank you Sam McKenzie. You had the integrity and strength of character to say out loud what the rest of East Tennessee has failed to say...except for Martha Boggs. Campfield is not a joke any more. He is dangerous.
All that's missing now is the
All that's missing now is the clown costume.
Thanks for the Terry Frank info Betty.
This lunatic has all the
This lunatic has all the necessary characteristics to be a fixture in Tennessee politics for at least the next twenty years.
Campfield
The guy can be beaten by a decent candidate with two hardworking interns and a financial base willing to counter his major moves. People act like he can't be beat, but he can. It is far less costly and difficult than you guys make it out to be. He's won by desire and that is all it will take to defeat him.
Yes, he can be beaten. His
Yes, he can be beaten. His success up until now has been due to the fact that he identifies those in his district that believe as he does, works tirelessly door to door, and makes sure his supporters vote. That kind of diligence pays off; I'd be willing to bet that he gets EVERY bigot in the district to the polls. Normal thinking people not driven by hatred are far less likely to go to the polls. But, that's what it will take--working hard to get the turnout from those that oppose him.
I'm starting to like
I'm starting to like Politifact again.....
Never
Credibility is a wispy thing. Since Politifact has shown itself willing to be used as a political tool, it is done as a reliable source, especially when it agrees with you.
Of course Campfield could be
Of course Campfield could be beaten, but only in a GOP primary.
Last time, he won the GOP primary with 39% of the vote.
Ron Leadbetter had 36%.
Steve Hill had 22%
And some guy who posts constantly on Stacey's FB page, Nick Ciparro, had a few, thus giving credence to the stories that Campfield always gets a ringer or two into the race to help split up the vote. But Ciparro didn't help him -- Steve Hill, who entered the race late, did. He had NO chance to win, but seemed to believe he did. Without him, Campfield would not have won.
Of course Leadbetter, who is a generation older than Campfield, was, back in the day, considered just about as right-wing crazy as Stacey is now.
Hill, who ran around badmouthing Stacey during his failed campaign ended up getting appointed as the seat warmer after Burchett stepped down from the senate seat after the primary. Hill then
gave Stacey money and publicly supported him.
So as long as there is no strong candidate who announced early, and there are retired guys with large egos splitting up the anybody-but-Stacey vote, he's pretty safe.
Monkeying around
Been thinking about that monkey love:
To pass on the virus, wouldn't it have been the monkey doing the screwing? How would that work?
Would the guy wanting to have sex with the monkey have to seduce him? Take him out to a monkey dinner?
And hell, monkeys are mean. Remember that chimp up in Connecticut that ripped that woman's face off?
Maybe Stacey is more familiar with this kind of thing than I.
Protecting his face is what
Protecting his face is what the leather wrestler's mask is for?
Probably involved plying him
Probably involved plying him with banana daiquiris.
I thought I heard somewhere
I thought I heard somewhere that Campfield doesn't drink.
He doesn't.
He doesn't.
He needs to start.
Maybe it would mellow him out.
What would one wear if one's
What would one wear if one's objective were to get lucky with a monkey?
What would one wear if one's
What would one wear if one's objective were to get lucky with a monkey?
Maybe a luchador mask?
I'm assuming this was
I'm assuming this was homosexual sex with the monkey, cause everybody knows you can't catch AIDS from heterosexual sex.
Oh, yeah. That was
Oh, yeah. That was understood.
Woman monkeys don't exist. They 'd skew the stats.
So...
Is that what Stacey meant when he refered to heterosexual sex with "regular" women?
If I understand the general gist of the concept
Cube for Rachel.
Hiding from the truth? coverup? Damage Control?
