In case you haven't been following it, the legislative astroturfing outfit ALEC is losing corporate sponsors, who are distancing themselves from the crazy.
Mother Jones reports that ALEC's sponsors are under increasing public pressure for being associated with ALEC's stupid and harmful boilerplate state legislation such as voter ID and "stand your ground" laws.
According to the article, Wendy's is the latest to announce their departure from ALEC, joining other corporate giants such as McDonald's, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Kraft and Intuit who have also withdrawn membership.
In an ironic display of surrealist performance art, ALEC released a statement saying that this is a "well-funded, expertly coordinated intimidation campaign."
State Reps. Curry Todd and Steve McDaniel are members of the illustrious ALEC Board of Directors, and Todd is ALEC's Tennessee state chairman. You may recall that Rep. Todd recently helped kill the "Influence Disclosure Act" that would would have required disclosing the source of astroturf legislation such as ALEC's. More about Curry Todd...
