I'd sure like to know what prompted this decision
I would have to think that her polling showed little chance of victory. Here's the question in my mind: Is this a winnable district now? If it is, I want Andy Berke to take a shot at it, as his Senate seat is not up until 2012.

I hate to hear this. She'd be as good a candidate as the Dems could find.
It is, of course, the district that elected Wamp, though, so could be her numbers and/or fundraising weren't good.
It's a shame, though. She's smart as a whip, capable (master's degree in environmental engineering with applied experience in hazardous waste) and very personable and down-to-earth. If any Democrat could have competed, it was her.
Agreed
Our loss, her gain I suppose. Can't say as I blame her.
It's gotta be really hard to run for office in such a wingnutty district.
