Who the hell is this nimrod?
He's actually still fighting against flouride in the water. And his radio station broadcasts high school and college football games? Funny thing is that he's so right wing, he actually agrees with the left in the fight against excessive development.

I found this
I found this interesting:
"America Supports You"
a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense, recognizes citizens' support for our military men and women and communicates that support to members of our Armed Forces at home and abroad.
Did the station receive this award for supporting the troops or for supporting Bush?
Adrift in the Sea of Humility
Well, that's two things I agree with him on
What's wrong with opposing mass systemic medication through our public utilities? I agree with him on that. What I think is weird is that I think this view is embraced more by (some) people on the left (like me), though it fits the Libertarian view and some of the extremely radical right conspiratorials too. Gen. Jack D. Ripper from Dr. Strangelove comes to mind. (I suspect this guy fits more into the latter group.)
If there's a benefit from fluoridation, it's from topical application and its use is less beneficial beyond childhood. Moreover, virtually everything we drink is loaded with fluoride via contamination. What is defensible about continuing this practice just because it became commonplace decades ago? Back when x-ray machines were used trivially in shoe stores and the country was moving toward the "clean atom" to make electricity that would be "too cheap to meter."
Even if fluoridation is harmless, why would/should government have involvement in this health care issue and none other? I don't think it's too much to demand that our water supply be as clean, pure, and unadulterated as practically possible. If you want fluoride, you only need to select from virtually all of the toothpaste multinationals that don't even make a version without the stuff.
That's my nutjobbery and I'm stickin' to it.
He's apparently been reading
He's apparently been reading some of Cas Walker's old speeches. Cas was totally against the evil flouride. I think he even once claimed it was a communist plot.
BTW, if you haven't seen the dvd about Cas put together by the East Tennessee History Center and you like Knoxville history, check it out.
CBT
America Supports You
The America Supports You organization is run through the DoD, I believe. It's pretty non-controversial and only refers to aid for actual soldiers.
The radio owner seems a sort eccentric crank. He votes for the Constitution Party, which is a strange blend of libertarianism and Christian Dominionism.
I recall that Knoxville was
I recall that Knoxville was not fluoridated until maybe the '70s(?). That was maybe due largely to Cas(?). I wonder if he had a principled reason other than the oppotunity to oppose meddling yankees from the federal gummint.
Is the Cas DVD available for sale? I thought there were some legal issues holding it up other than for the limited ETHC showings.
Cas
During the Cas Walker retrospective at the East Tennessee History Center a few months back there was a clip of Cas calling flouride something like "the most poison of all poisons."

Elrod's first impression is
Elrod's first impression is right-on.
The station owner is a longtime member of Blount County's far right wing fringe.
i listen to wbcr regularly,
(link...)
i listen to wbcr regularly, lol, and i am NOT religious in anyway, (it is a christian talk radio station). why is he a "nimrod"? because he promotes local high school and college games?, because he has found a cause he supports and has devoted his life to it and bettering his community? believe me, i dont agree with alot of stuff on the wbcr, but there is some good listenin on there, even if you are a "NWO scumbag"(not directed toward anyone:))
i hold veiws from both left and right sides, but think its stupid to put them in categories, and from the candi-dorks we have to choose from, they are all the same. cept for ron paul, yall should like him, they keep refering to him as "the former liberal" ...
Great point about Ron Paul
Except for the fact that he's a screaming loony fundy bigot, Ron Paul's a great guy.
Let's hope he get the GOP nomination.
you compare his voting
you compare his voting record with the others......
man, some of the left or whatever yall call yourself here, are starting to sound an awful lot like the rethuglicans in office , with all the name calling.....
he is the only one on the r. side that has any kind of sense,
all the others want to nuke iran , and take on a pre-emptive policy.........
read the constitution, its a damn fine read
do more work on wtf happened at okc, i aint gettin into it here and now i just got off work and am goin to bed, but maybe read shit other than offical stories and look at everything that happened and all that was done, bah !!!
name calling, i thought i was reading Rush's BS
Letters to Paul
Compare his voting record with the other what? Republicans? Why the hell would I support any Republican for president? You're the one hugging Republicans, dude, not me.
Re: the name calling, I backed mine up. I say Paul is a fundy because he doesn't recognize the principle of the separation of church and state (see Orcinus link in previous post).
I call him a bigot because he's said awful racist things about black people.
Perhaps "loony" was overdoing it. I have no evidence that he's ever been diagnosed with a mental health problem. To my thinking bigot + fundy = loony, but your math may vary.
And the comparison with Rush? Talk about name-calling! BTW, this meagre comment contains more valid citation that all the crap Rush has spewed in the last 10 years.
As for this ...
do more work on wtf happened at okc, i aint gettin into it here and now i just got off work and am goin to bed, but maybe read shit other than offical stories and look at everything that happened and all that was done, bah !!!
... I don't know what sort of "work" you've been doing or expect me to do, but it's time to put down the magic toad and step away from the ledge, OK?
i dont hug rethugs, i dont
i dont hug rethugs, i dont vote for parties, i vote for people,
2 things bout that race thing,
1, he could be a good guy that at the moment back then an the tension goin on, maybe he was a runnin off at the mouth. and should address it.
2. he is in the box about race, and not saying anything. if he really feels like toward blacks, thats sad, and i dont agree with it, but its america and he can speak how he wants, even if it bites him in the ass:)
"but it's time to put down the magic toad and step away from the ledge, OK?"
you can come by and lick my magic toad, and the lil bag he carries with him:)
i xpect you to do nuthin, dont look at all sides of any story, follow the herd......
moooooooooooooooooooo
i did some "work" and found
i did some "work" and found the article in question not to be his writing style, it dont read like his writings,
those remarks were not written by Ron Paul. They appeared in ONE article written by an aid. Ron Paul never wrote anything like that before or since, and that aid was fired.
i guess his fault is not reading everything in a publication of his, before putting his name on it:(
And, if Ron Paul was a racist, would Walter Williams be his first choice as a running mate?
