Josh Flory with the takeaway, which sounds like sour grapes in re. the JFG sign.
SEE ALSO: Jack Neely pines for the sign: Baxter, whom we can only assume doesn’t have a public-relations department, owns the property, and has forbidden its return, saying he has other plans.

Wow, in one news cycle Baxter managed to alienate just about everyone I know. Anyone who supports the Southknox waterfront plan is pissed, or should be, right now, and anyone whose been in this town for over five years is also pissed.

Anyone who supports the Southknox waterfront plan is pissed, or should be,
For many of us, that should read "has been."
Baxter's feelings about the south waterfront are well known. He waited until the draft form-based code was ready to go to MPC, then came in and asked for drastic changes (and I mean drastic, like allowable building heights of 150 versus 60 feet) just to his own little piece of it (he apparently had no interest in the rest). When the administration wouldn't back him and City Council passed the code the way it came out of the very intensive, VERY public process, he was clearly miffed (to use a polite word). And miffed he remains.
Move over Lane Kiffin,
Move over Lane Kiffin, Knoxville has a new villain to hate on.
Can anybody tell me what Bill Baxter has done for Knoxville?
Has he done anything that wasn't in his own self-interest?
I mean he owns a company that is an eyesore on our beautiful Riverfront and has been unwilling to work with the community on moving forward to create a thriving waterfront development.
Yet, he was willing to let private development interests take over the lakefront land that was taken from hard-working farmers and the like for the Tellico Lake project, which thankfully was thwarted due to the HUGE public outcry.
I took a few pics of this sign before it was taken down, but I don't understand how having this icon on his property, that he doesn't plan to develop beyond it's current use, was an impediment or inconvenience in anyway.
He just seems like a huge jerk, which I am sure is not the whole picture of who he is, since he seems to be held in high regard in certain circles. Can somebody/anybody reach him on this issue?
What's his problem with having a local landmark on his property?
