WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president...
EDIT: Now her campaign is denying it.
SECOND EDIT:
On NBC's "Today Show," Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe said that once Obama gets the majority of convention delegates, "I think Hillary Clinton will congratulate him and call him the nominee."
In a formal statement, the campaign made clear the limits of how far she would go in Tuesday night's speech. "Senator Clinton will not concede the nomination," the statement said.

Terry McAuliffe
Terry McAuliffe rejected as "100 percent" incorrect an Associated Press report that Clinton is preparing to acknowledge that Obama has the delegates to win the nomination Tuesday night as the five-month Democratic primary process comes to a close.

I think, rather than conceeding, she'll "suspend her campaign." Which, IIRC, is what Edwards did.
Same practical effect as conceeding. Just sounds better.

They're counting on the S.D. primary results and a mysterious* 16 superdelegates "who have confirmed their intentions to the AP."
Hope those are more reliable than the source within the Clinton campaign who confirmed earlier to the AP that Clinton was going to concede.
* Although not enumerated by name, this list presumably includes "the officially neutral" Obama advocates including Donna Brazile, Nancy Pelosi, Christine Pelosi, Rahm Emmanuel, Steny Hoyer, and Kwame Kilpatrick. I'd be surprised if they weren't.

Isn't Clinton's admitting
Isn't Clinton's admitting that Obama has enough delegates for the nomination (assuming she does say that) akin to me saying it's hot outside when it's 95 degrees?
Is that really much of a development beyond where we have effectively been for a few months now? Until she "concedes," she can still (theoretically) woe superdelegates and hope news comes out that Obama is a space alien or something.

I'd rather be cycling.

funny. I think she HAS been woeing superdelegates for two months now. Not alot of wooing going on. I'm sorry. that just tickled me.

Reports vary
But AP is now reporting
Obama has 2,093 delegates.
25 short of the magic number
of 2,118.
Looks like Friday will be
Looks like Friday will be the day. (And it looks like this reporting team did a little bit of homework before going to press, so this may be more credible than the early reports from yesterday.)
