Discovery Channel is starting a new season of Deadliest Catch tonight. I'll never bitch about the cost of Alaskan King Crab ever again.

I don't always watch it and when I do it's on the little TV in the office, but I bet I'd need a change of clothes if I saw it in HD on a big screen.

Trivia:

A mixture of Crown Royal, Kalua, and Baileys makes a ___________.

Apparently these are very popular with the captains while they are in Dutch Harbor.

Seems pretty appetizing to me although this recipe calls for Canadian Club instead Crown Royal.

I watched some of the first season of that. Terrifying.

Also, if you like that I'm sure you've read The Perfect Storm. Couldn't put it down. And the movie almost does the book justice.

Saw the movie. It brought out my landlubber instincts.

I noticed that iTunes is selling seasons one and three of Deadliest for $18 and $20 respectively and individual episodes for $2. I downloaded and watched the eleven free podcasts from the safety of my bed last night.

The podcasts deal with aspects of life in Dutch Harbor. By the time you finish watching them, you think you've been to Cicely "on the cusp of the Alaskan Riviera."

Disclaimer:

On reflection, I see that I misspoke. I'm not really sure that this is the recipe for inducing flatulence in ducks. I should have said, " . . . and makes a drink called a ______."

Okay, the "drink" is called a duck fart.

What do I win? How about 10 lbs. of King crab legs. Now I know why they cost so much.

Actually I did watch the show and saw them at the bar. When the waitress brought out those drinks, I wondered what they were and then Mike Rowe said.

That is a very interesting docudrama.

Drink and Book

The drink is a "Duck Fart" - the guys have made it famous! You should check out their book, "Time Bandit" - it's an awesome read. And if you are a fan of the Hillstrands, this book tells it all. Amazing!
