We had a problem with our AC last year in the heat of the summer. It was over 90 degrees inside our house. Chancey & Reynolds came to our rescue.

Don't remember how we picked them (probably because they are Rheem authorized, which is what we have), but they showed up on short notice on a weekend, replaced a part, handled all the warranty paperwork, and didn't charge us anything.

The guy they sent knew his stuff, too. And bonus, he had the part (compressor motor) on his truck. I can recommend them.

It's funny how my heat pump always crapped out when it was either very hot or very cold and I was broke. I can see how they easily sense the hot or cold part, but I wonder how they can tell when you're broke?

Thanks so much for the good info. I think his first step will be to see which contractors are on TVA's list and go from there. I bet most of these firms are on that list.

One of our other neighbors reminded us that he had bought a package unit on the internet and installed it himself during his recent remodel.

Oh, I don't think so. He saved a lot of money and it seems to work great, but I helped run the ductwork in a crawl space on that project and I know better now.

The crew from John H. Coleman has just left the neighbor's drive after installing a swoopy new Lennox heat pump. He waited for as long as he could before scheduling the installation so he could work some overtime to help ease the financial burden.

He had to work today so I opened up his house for them to put in the finishing touches. They did a wonderful job. He should be able to hang a beef in his parlor by the time he gets home this afternoon.
