An Alabamian's view of the Great American State Fair

the first thing I learned from spending a morning at the Great American State Fair is that there’s no way in hell I’m bringing my kids to see this.

I don’t care about the Hillsdale College American history booth or even the North Carolina pavilion, which briefly featured Confederate flags. The Great American State Fair is not a failure like the green lagoon. That is so interesting that they had to station the National Guard there to keep people away on purpose.

Meanwhile, this end of the Mall is sparse because it’s so insufferably boring. And if you have small children, you can hear the whining start without them even being there.
