Murder/suicide, West Knox County
Thursday, January 2, 2014, around 6:30 PM, gun shots were heard by a neighbor. A husband and wife were found dead in their home at 1738 Bonnie Roach Lane off of Northshore Drive in West Knox County, near the Loudon County border. Murder, suicide is suspected.

How do both bodies end up with multiple gunshot wounds? I went to KGIS and ran the address. These folks were professionals living the good life in a nice West Knox neighborhood. Just awful.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014, around 9:30 PM, a shooting was reported at 2119 North Park Boulevard, North Knoxville. One man is dead as a result of the shooting and another is injured.
Shooting in East Knoxville
Tuesday, January 14, 2014, around 5 PM, two people were injured from a shooting at 320 S. Hall of Fame Drive, Arbor Place Apartments, in East Knoxville.
Shooting in North Knoxville, Western Heights
Friday, January 17, 2014, a shooting was reported in the Western Heights neighborhood of North Knoxville. The exact location is not known. The victim showed up at St. Mary's Hospital Friday night.

Saturday, February 1, 2014, around 7:21 PM, shots were fired at the intersection of University Avenue and Callaway Street, Mechanicsville, in North Knoxville.

The University of Tennessee has sent an alert to all students warning them to take precautions after a shooting near campus.
According to dispatch, three people were shot in the Fort Sanders neighborhood near UT. They have all been transported to UT Medical Center.
KPD Sergeant Sean Hejna said the situation began at 13th and Highland, then apparently continued to the area of 21st and Highland.
Need to quit writing underage drinking citations and giving frat
rats a hard time and get law enforcement back up in fort sanders where the bad guys have taken over since law enforcement started their revenue efforts for the city with the on campus kids.
There have been a number of serious events in the fort which go largely unreported, but now the KPD needs to go ahead and step up the patrols in the fort and leave the UT Police to feast on the kids on campus.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014, around 8:15 PM three people were shot while at the Highland Terrace Apartments, corner of 13th Street and Highland Avenue, in the Center City, Knoxville, UT/Fort Sanders area.

I'm not too familiar with the market for Fort sanders housing but I have to wonder how the decamping of so many UT students to the hills of South Knoxville has had an effect.

Sunday, February 16, 2014, around 9:30 AM, police responded to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, across the street from Austin East High School, in East Knoxville.

Saturday, February 22, 2014, around 8 AM, shots were fired from a car at the intersection of Alcoa Highway and Kingston Pike/Cumberland Avenue, in the UT area of Downtown Knoxville. The shooting continued as the man proceeded to chase another man out Alcoa Hwy then back into town at 17th Street and Western Avenue.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014, around 11 PM, a man was shot while fleeing from someone in a car near the intersection of Louise Avenue and S. Chestnut Street in East Knoxville (City).
There have been shootings near this intersection or within a couple of blocks in the past three years (2011, 2012, 2013).
Officer involved shooting death, North Knoxville
March 6, 2014, around 9 PM, a shooting occurred at 4111 Tazewell Pike, North Knoxville (City). It is reported a man that was bipolar and suicidal shot at Knoxville police officers and the officers returned fire. The man died from being shot.

March 8, 2014, around 9 PM, a shooting occurred at BJ's Market, 2310 E. Magnolia Avenue, East Knoxville (City). Two men were injured.

Shooting in East Knoxville
March 14, 2014, around 2 PM, a 19 year old was shot in both hands while in the backyard of his home on Oakland Street, East Knoxville (City). The street locaton (block number or address) has not been reported.
The police are reporting this to be a random shooting. What do they mean by random shooting? It seems that if someone gets shot in both hands the shooting is targeted (with aim and direction) and is hardly random. I could be wrong.

March 20, 2014, around 2 AM, a shooting occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex on W. Scott Avenue in the Western Heights community of North Knoxville (City). No one was injured.

March 25, 2014, around 10:45PM, a shooting occurred at a home in the 1700 block of Branner Street in the Oak Grove community of North Knoxville (City). Two people were injured. Branner Street is a block west of N Central Street and a couple of blocks north of Woodland Avenue.

March 28, 2014, around 1 AM, a shooting occurred in the 1200 block of W. Scott Avenue in the Western Heights community of North Knoxville (City). One person was injured. This is the second shooting in this area in the past eight days.

March 30, 2014, just before midnight, a man shot a handgun outside a residence in the 4900 block of Tenwood Drive, West Knoxville (City). The man entered the house and appeared to commit suicide by shooting himself.
Accidental shooting in North Knox County
April 17, 2014, around 8:30 AM, a resident accidentally shot himself in the leg when reaching for a cup of coffee. As he reached for the coffee he knocked over a loaded .22 caliber rifle. The incident occurred in the Corryton community, 4507 Shipe Road, North Knox County.
Drive-by shooting in East Knoxville
Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, around 3:45PM, a drive-by shooting involving two cars was reported in the 2000 block of Jefferson Avenue, East Knoxville (City). A Knoxville Police Department office caught up with one of the cars involved and gave chase. The vehicle ended up in the Holston River when the driver could not get away from KPD.

April 25, 2014, around 6 PM, a shooting occurred in the area of W. Woodland Avenue, in the Western Heights community of North Knoxville (City). One person was injured. This is the third shooting in this area in the just over a month. This is the fourth shooting in this area in 2014.

May 3, 2014, around 7:30 AM, a man started shooting toward I-40 in North Knoxville (City). No injuries were reported. Cars were damaged. The man hid out in a house on Wheeler Street. He finally surrendered to police about twelve hours later.

May 27, 2014, around 10:45 AM, a murder suspect from Florida fired shots out of a hotel room at police, Days Inn, 9240 Park West Boulevard, in West Knox County. The suspect subsequently shot himself and died from the wounds.

June 7, 2014, around 7 AM, a shooting occurred at Graves Street, East Knoxville (City). It is reported a man that was running from police after assaulting a woman on McConnell Street. While hiding near Graves Street, the man shot at a Knoxville police officer striking the officer in the chest (bullet-proof vest) and arm. Officers returned fire. The man died from being shot. The Knoxville police officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

June 26, 2014, around 2:30 AM, two people were injured and one was killed during a shooting. The shooting occurred in the 2800 block of Valley View Road, North Knoxville (City). The shooting occurred within a couple of blocks of the Whittle Springs Middle School and the Whittle Springs Golf Course. "The suspects shot and killed a dog."
1st reported shooting in South Knoxville for 2014
June 29, 2014, around 3:30 PM, a taxi driver was killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in South Knoxville. The shooting occurred on Sims Road near the Cook Drive intersection and the Montgomery Village low-income housing community in Vestal, South Knoxville (City). This is the first reported shooting in South Knoxville for 2014.
This is not the first time cab drivers have been in danger in South Knoxville. In June, 2012, two different taxi drivers were robbed on Hialeah Drive, very near the area of this shooting.

July 7, 2014, around 6:30 PM, shots were fired between a homeowner and "two men leaving his house with some of his property." No injuries were reported. The shooting occurred in the 6500 block of Sevierville Pike in South Knox County.

The apartments are across the street from Rock City Ball Park and a City of Knoxville fire station. The shooting victims said the shooting occurred on Baker Street, one street over from Moody, near a different apartment complex. The shooting occurred in South Knoxville (City).

Wednesday, October 15, 2014, around 10:15 PM, the Knox County Sheriff's Officers responded to an automobile accident and found the driver had been shot. The accident occurred near the intersection of Miller Road and Andersonville Pike in North Knox County.

Stolen property was recovered near the Walbrook Studio Apartments in West Knoxville. The incident occurred near the 5100 block of Carter Road and Brown Gap Road in North Knox County.

Sunday, November 2, 2014, around 2:30 AM, three men attempted a home invasion at Logans Landing Apartments, 2900 block of Colt Drive, just off of Rifle Range Road. The resident shot at the suspects as they were leaving the apartment. Note to criminals, if you see streets named Colt, Rifle Range, Luger, Muzzle, Carbine, or Magnum, you might reconsider.

November 13, 2014, around 6 PM, Knox County Sheriff deputies shot and killed a man they were trying to pick up for outstanding warrants. It is reported the man first shot at the deputies and the deputies returned fire. The incident occurred at the Chatterbox Tavern, 8227 Chapman Highway, South Knox County.

November 21, 2014, in the evening, a man was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred on Castle Street, near the Lansing Avenue intersection, which is a block from a park and a couple of blocks from Austin-East High School in East Knoxville, City.
KPD office accidentally shoots self
December 1, 2014, around 6 AM, an off-duty Knoxville Police Department office accidentally shot himself in the leg. The incident occurred at the officer's home off of Papermill Drive, Knoxville (City).

December 13, 2014, around 1 AM, a 19-year old man was found shot to death. The incident occurred on Christen Lee Circle, north of Middlebrook Pike and west of Bakertown/Joe Hinton Roads, in West Knox County.

December 19, 2014, around 8 PM, a man shot at some alledged would be burglars. No injuries were reported. The incident occurred at 8917 Millertown Pike in East Knox County.
Shooting in South Knoxville, Sevier Avenue
December 20, 2014, around 11 PM, a man attempted to rob the City Gas convenience store brandishing a gun. As the suspect closed in on the cash register, the store owner used his handgun to fire at the suspect resulting in a shootout between the owner and the would be robber. The would be robber was injured by gunshot. The incident occurred at the City Gas convenience store, 915 Sevier Avenue, South Knoxville (City).

The number of reported shootings decreased by thirteen in 2014 over 2013. The number of shootings resulting in death decreased by 2 from 2013 (19) to 2014 (17). However, the number of deaths from these shootings stayed the same (19 deaths in 2014 and 2013). There were five fewer shootings in East Knoxville compared to 2013 and there were four fewer deaths as a result of a shooting, one of which was a suicide. There were two fewer shootings reported in South Knoxville/South Knox County and 1 less shooting death. Shootings in the West side of town decreased by three and there were three additional deaths by shootings as compared to 2013, three of which were by suicide. There were three fewer shootings in the North side of town, the number of shooting deaths increased by one, one of which was a suicide.

December 10, 2014, two men broke into a women's apartment at Arbor Place apartments, 320 S. Hall of Fame Drive. The woman was the mother of one of the men's children. The child was also in the apartment. Several shots were fired during the altercation. No injuries from gunshots were reported.
