WELL, It seems that NO ONE in Knoxville, East Tennessee OR IN DISTRICT 2, cares ONE diddly-damn about this hidden, secret, shameful USE of OUR FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS in this immoral, for-sure unethical way ! Jamie Satterfield, who is well known here as a super journalist brought it to the public's attention!DID NO ONE SEE HER EXPOSE' on the front page of KNS on Monday except me? Or did the thousands of readers who did read it just 'shrug' and move on to the Sports Section ?
Since y'all may claim disinterest or do not care, her accurate reporting uncovered this "FUND" used to settle lawsuits and claims against current and PAST lawmakers for offenses against employees of Congress members. The claims paid out 'secret' amounts with the stipulation that ANY accuser would be 'awarded' funds because there was PROOF that the claims were legitimate and that the guilty did hurt, embarrass, insult, shame, accuse or otherwise try to force an employee to quit...AND...that the facts would NEVER BE MADE public. In this report, the GUILTY was soon to be 'former' REP. Jimmy Duncan...and his limited, sort of confession was..."this did not have connection with any sexual harassment" but with actions by various employees.
AND the grounds for the Accuser's FIRING by Duncan?
HER AGE ! She was apparently an excellent employee, and she went to her 'employer' (Duncan Jr.) with repeated complaints about being mistreated by A GROUP of her co-workers. Instead of doing one thing for this employee, he turned the matter over to his "chief of staff". So there you have it. She was FIRED for no good reason.
THE QUESTION BECOMES: DID ANYONE HERE OR IN WASHINGTON KNOW ABOUT THIS 'FUND'? SINCE IT USES FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS to settle claims of SECRET ACTIONS AGAINST FEDERAL EMPLOYEES, DOES ANYONE WANT A TOTAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION...WHO USED THIS HUSH MONEY? DOES ANYONE WHO PAYS FEDERAL TAX WANT HIS OR HER MONEY USED TO COVER UP IMMORAL, UNETHICAL, AND EVEN CRIMINAL ACTIONS ?

Assuming the KNS has thousands of readers was your first mistake
Regrettably the KNS has zero credibility pertaining to their role as the "watchdog" on state and local government and the remote chance that a KNS reporter could write a critical piece regarding the federal government is a real stretch and downright laughable.
The KNS squandered its journalistic credibility and integrity years ago and the likelihood that anything written will be given critical consideration is speculative at best. KNS wasn't guilty of fake news, their downfall was "spin news" and probably should have been stripped of its first amendment protection.
For a nice look at what real journalism looked like, take in Spielberg's move "The Post" and/or its predecessor "All The President's Men" to see the proper role of the newspaper media in connection with watching what the federal government is doing.

Cari Wade Gervin
Cari broke the story. I was able, using court documents, to say with certainty this settlement was paid from the fund. That's the only difference in the reporting. Credit should go to Cari.
The Congressional Hush Fund
Thanks, Jamie, for giving or sharing credit. But I would point out that this article was NOT an opinion piece, but rather it was and is a well-researched article about how hidden and deep the corruption is and has been in Congress. Maybe that is why no one reacted or responded. And Duncan's weak excuse for his negative treatment of Ms. Taylor as "not being part of sexual harassment" was shameful. It was WORSE. He knew she was a good employee. He KNEW that fact. Some how he worked this solution, firing a female because of her AGE, was outrageous. And to point out my use of 'caps' just proves your lack of understanding the importance of the TRUTH in the article.
My article
Was not an opinion piece. It was reported out (and the victim's lawyer confirmed the payments came from the "slush fund.).
