It sounds like KCSO was at best slow-walking and at worst ignoring this case. To do that to any family - whether the victim is involved with drugs or not - is totally unacceptable. To do it to a family with as big a megaphone as Katie's is just stupid.
Judging from his SN and his
Judging from his SN and his comments, "Glockhead" is a cop.
Figures.
glockhead
whoever he is, he's also another kind of "head."

So the family has hired Don Bosch. Interesting.
Here's how to solve this case:

Talk to the people who know stuff: Kids.
My connection to this mother and her son
Rachel, you do get it! I am so glad this mother has a big megaphone and can continue to keep her son's murder in the news, albeit online. It took this poor victim over one month of agony to die at UT Hospital. To call his death anything other than murder is ridiculous. Apparently, from my experience and Katie's, the initial response to a violent crime is to make judgments, assumptions, and decide that these victims do not deserve justice.
And all these comments about drugs, teens and gangs, just asinine. A person can order ANY narcotic online, any amount, any strength, no need for a gang or a 'dealer'. And the sad fact is that the uninformed will continue to blame those who are addicted for being attacked, beaten, robbed, because that will feed the perception that all drug dependent or addicted DESERVE to be punished. So wrong.
Immediately after Henry's
Immediately after Henry's death, KCSO said the attack happened in the parking lot of a convenience store on John Sevier Hwy. Now Sheriff Jones says it happened in Vestal a day earlier. That proves they have actually started investigating the case.
What the preliminary autopsy report suggests is the brain damage that eventually took Henry's life was not caused by the assault, but by a lack of oxygen during the time he was unresponsive. This should simply shift the focus from those who beat him to those who attended to him afterward. The primary question becomes whether Henry was too debilitated to make his own decisions about not seeking medical attention and about ingesting methadone. Whether there were acts of criminal negligence that contributed to his death depends a lot on what state he was in during the time between the assault and the arrival of the ambulance.
I hope KCSO is working to determine what was going on during those two days. They should have done that a month ago, as the potential for this to be a homicide investigation existed from the outset.
"It doesn't matter if you
"It doesn't matter if you live under a bridge or in the Hamptons, you still get the same professionalism from our department," Jones said. "No matter if you blog or don't blog or if you complain on us or don't complain on us, you'll still get the same professional investigation."
Guess JJ's still running for office with a comment like that.
Of course, the top brass of KCSO has always been known more for using their campaign skills on the job than their investigative abilities.
The reason I have a personal connection to this case...
is that apparently the disease of inept, unprofessional, non-investigative skills is also prevalent at KPD...my story is similar except for the facts that my son and two other victims are still alive and one is still undergoing treatment.. 6 months after the crime occurred. And their case has been so mishandled, and two of the VICTIMS are now unofficially blamed with being beaten and this was NOT a drug crime:
The CRIME included home invasion, victims were held bound, and blindfolded, assaulted with knife and pistol, beaten and stomped on, threatened with sexual assault, threatened that a little boy would be killed..."where is your money??" for 2 friggin hours before the perps got tired and left...no prints taken, no witnesses interviewed, wrong descriptions of the suspects and the report was not entered into data base for 2 WEEKS, 6 1/2 hours in ER, over $10,000 in medical bills...guess what...one victim was threatened with eviction because stories got out about this crime! And there have been 34 other violent crimes in that place since January...one was 'solved' because those victims knew their attackers! And the media refused to 'get involved'... I hope Katie and her family get justice for her son. There are many unsolved crimes here and other mothers who have never gotten help, justice or peace.
And the beat goes on.
Sounds like both KPD and KCSO
Sounds like both KPD and KCSO are used to ignoring just about any crime that Pat Robertson might define as "an act of God".
We've already seen what happens when they have a body and a confessed killer in custody ("Eeek they're homosexuals!").
Now we have them slow walking Henry's case.
I look forward to the sh*t hitting the fan over this, followed by an in-house investigation finding no wrongdoing.
Bulletin! A man charged with murder is now in custody!
He turned himself in and confessed to murdering a young mother and her baby....2 years ago! Brilliant work by 'the LAW'!
