Sorry about that title - please welcome Jeff Ingram as the new volunteer liaison for Organizing for America for Tennessee. jingramgbr@gmail.com

Has anyone been able to keep up with the Techie President's online activities? Is it possible for the center to hold on to the "spirit of the campaign," or are the creation of thousands of local Obama groups going to eventually have some sort of diluting or fragmenting effect on the power of the organization as a whole? Is grassroots organizing a passing fad from which people will "opt out" when their email inbox gets overwhelming? There is a lot of new structure out there, but does it pass Dave Letterman's test of "Is This Anything?"

Facebook "is" the sixth largest country on the planet, and I find it surprising how many conversations in a bar begin with a question about someone's facebook status or group they joined. And of course, the new volunteer liaison for OFA 2.0 TN has a facebook page. Looks like the kind of guy that would be faster than he looks in a game of beer pong. That's a David Plouffe joke, and not meant to be insulting at all, BTW.

Jen O'Malley Dillon, the new(ish) Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee also has a facebook page.

Neither of these people have as yet answered my Mafia Wars request. Maybe you can find some use for them :)

National Field Project

On July 25, 2009 National Field will launch the National Field Project with the N1 conference focusing on reinventing accountability in support of the progressive movement.

The N1 conference brings together political organizers, issue-based activists, international humanitarian organizations, and unions to reflect on the technology advances of the 2008 presidential campaign and to refocus attention on grassroots organizing and the online tools that make organizing more effective.
