I'm so sorry, Katie. A loss
I'm so sorry, Katie. A loss for words is an understatement.
I cannot talk about this
I cannot talk about this without crying. The first thing i've done in the morning for the past four weeks is go to Katie's FB page to check on news of Henry, fighting back a growing dread. I am so sad now that I don't know what to do.
So I guess I'll go back to my First Methodist roots and take them food.
I hurt for them.
This is horrible news. No
This is horrible news. No one can say anything that will lessen the hurt but please accept my condolences.
There are no words.
There are no words.
Awful. Just awful.
Awful. Just awful.
I am so sorry.
I once sat at the bedside of my own child following an overdose. I can't begin to find the words to say how sorry I am for this loss.
Henry ...
I am stunned and broken-hearted. His suffering is ended.
May he rest in Peace and rise in glory.
I will continue my prayers for the family and that the perpetrators of Henry's injuries be brought to justice.
This really has me tied up in
This really has me tied up in knots. I am close to so many people (ten and counting) who experimented with pot at a young age and got into the harder stuff later, often to disastrous ends. All but two made it through and are living fairly "normal" lives. The others are living in group homes with varying diagnoses revolving around different forms schizophrenia.
I guess its time to start talking to my five year old.
Thanks for all the sharing Katie.
Helping Out
So many people have asked how to help. I wanted to remind everyone of the information that R. Neal has kindly posted elsewhere on the site on how you can help Katie and her family.
Thanks to everyone who is helping us.

I just don't have any words.
I just don't have any words. Peace to the family and peace to Henry.

Dana,
The outpouring of love and condolences to Katie this morning likely pushed her blog well past its bandwidth subscription limits.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I hope that you and your family find the peace and solace you need as time goes by. You are in our thoughts and we wish you only the best in this time of bereavement.
Thank you Shane.
Thank you Shane.
Paypal
Someone has posted on Shane's blog that Katie does have a Paypal account and you can help with expenses by sending Paypal funds to katie dot granju at gmail.com - I just did this and it worked fine - there is also the opportunity to add a personal message.
I am so sorry for Katie
and her family.
KCSO has a reputation for not being aggressive about suspicious deaths involving drugs.
There is nothing we can say that will alleviate the pain that family is feeling.
They use to say time heals all wounds, but it really doesn't.
It just takes the edge off of things.
So let's hope that Katie and her family have time for the refection they need to help them cope with this tragedy.
Time is all they will have.
