Shooting death in East Knoxville
Saturday, January 5, 2013, around 8:30PM, KPD responded to a report of gunfire and found a man shot to death in his car near the 3800 block of Bonnie View Avenue, off Prosser Road, in East Knoxville.
Another man shot to death in East Knoxville
Saturday, January 12, 2013, around 6:40PM, a shooting was reported at/near Austin Homes, 1200 block of East New Street, East Knoxville. One man died from being shot another man was injured.
According to our records, the January 5th and January 12th shooting deaths are the earliest reported shooting deaths in Knoxville since before 2010.
On May 23, 2011, there was a shooting death on West New Street, just a block away.
Shooting in Fort Sanders, UT area
Saturday, January 12, 2013, around 5 AM, a shooting was reported at 1623 Forest Avenue in the Fort Sanders/UT area. A young man heavily under the influence of something was found in an apartment with a gunshot wound. A "large amount of drug paraphernalia, as well as illegal drugs" were reported by KPD to have been found in the apartment.
Third shooting for January in East Knoxville
Monday, January 14, 2013, around 10 PM, reports indicate a man was shot inside a home on the 2500 block of Louise Avenue in East Knoxville. Other people in the home, including a child, were not injured.

Fourth shooting for January in East Knoxville
Monday, January 21, 2013, around 1 AM, the Knoxville Police Department were called to investigate a "drive-by" shooting on the 2300 block of E. Fifth Avenue in East Knoxville. One man was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the face and arm. It is being reported a semi-automatic weapon was used in the shooting.
It is being reported, the young victim "may not want to pursue charges against the gunman."

Monday, January 21, 2013, around 8:30PM, two people were shot while in the Zaxby's restaurant parking lot, 2024 Cumberland Avenue, near the University of Tennessee campus.
Shooting in West Knoxville, near West High School
Sunday, January 27, 2013, around 4 AM, a shooting was reported at the Prestwick Ridge Apartments, 415 Prestwick Ridge Way, off of Sutherland Avenue in West Knoxville. The apartment complex is about a block from West High School. No injuries were reported. The victim's car was damaged by gunshots.
Fifth shooting, 3rd death for January in East Knoxville
Wednesday, January 30, 2013, around 12:45 AM, a man was shot to death in the 300 block of Bell St. near Austin Homes, East Knoxville. This is the second deadly shooting in January within two blocks of Austin Homes.

Wednesday, January 30, 2013, around 10 PM, a man was shot while visiting his brother at 4321 Edington Road, in the Vestal community of South Knox County, when three men forced their way into the home demanding money.

Sixth shooting for January in East Knoxville
Thursday, January 31, 2013, around 7:30 PM, the Knoxville Police Department received a report of a shooting at the Days Inn, 5423 Asheville Hwy, in East Knoxville. A man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg.

East Knoxville young woman shot in alleged domestic dispute
Wednesday, February 13, 2013, around 11 AM, a 19 year old young woman was shot while in a car in front of a house at 3941 Porter Avenue in East Knoxville. The number of shell casings found at the scene indicate a semi-automatic weapon was used in the shooting.

Update: The 19 year old pregnant shooting victim died from her gunshot wounds yesterday.

This is essentially the backyard of the house I lived in in Alexander in Happy Holler. I could look out my kitchen window and see the back door to Toot's. I moved out two years ago this week. I always felt safe there, but this is scary.

Toot's is not a rough joint. Classy clientele full of people who pull up in Mercedes? No. But the karaoke night is really fun and the regulars are cool with the hipsters coming in and hanging out. I feel bad for them.

I know it's not a rough joint. I lived at it's back door for 19 months. I always felt safe. That neighborhood, in general, is safe. I still spend a lot of time in the neighborhood as my church is three blocks away. This is a fluke. That doesn't make it any less scary.
Shooting in East Knoxville, Dollar General Store
Wednesday, February 27, 2013, around 8 PM, a man robbed the Dollar General Store at 4112 Asheville Highway in East Knoxville. The store manager followed the suspect and guns were fired. A person was later found dead in an alley near Holston Drive.

Sunday, March 3, 2013, around 2 AM, a man was shot in the leg at La Cueva Bar, 3101 Sutherland Avenue, in West Knoxville. The bar is a block from the entrance to the Third Creek Greenway park and 1/3 mile from West High School.

Monday, March 4, 2013, around 9 PM, a gun was fired during an argument after a Young Life meeting in an Evangelistic Church Sanctuary Life Building parking lot at 2650 Boyds Bridge Pike, East Knoxville. A male teenager was shot in the foot.

Thursday, March 7, 2013, around 7:45 PM, a person was shot during a reported home invasion at the 1800 block of Woodbine Avenue in East Knoxville, less than a half mile from Caswell Park and the O'Connor Senior Center.

Friday, March 8, 2013, around 7:45PM, a teenager was shot in the chest while walking along the 2300 block of Woodbine Avenue in East Knoxville, about a half mile from yesterdays shooting on Woodbine.
UPDATE: the 17 year old young man died from his gunshot wounds.

Sunday, March 10, 2013, around 8:15 PM, a man was shot in the stomach at W. New Street near the intersection of S. Bell Street, Austin Homes, East Knoxville. This is the third shooting at the Austin Homes community this year, two of the victims died.
Shooting in North Knoxville, near Washington Pike
Tuesday, March 12, 2013, around 9:15 PM, shots were fired during a home invasion in the 2700 block of Barton Street, near Washington Pike, in North Knoxville. No injuries resulted from the shooting, but a resident of the home was hit on the head by the home invaders.

Wednesday, March 27, 2013, around 9 PM, a traffic altercation in an alley behind 2310 Jefferson Avenue in East Knoxville resulting in a shooting. No injuries resulted from the shooting.

Saturday, March 30, 2013, around 2:30PM, a young man was shot in the legs at the Arbor Place Apartments, 320 S. Hall of Fame Drive, East Knoxville.
Fourth shooting at Austin Homes, East Knoxville, this year
Saturday, March 30, 2013, around 9PM, two men were shot (one in the back, the other in the head) from a drive-by shooting as they stood outside an apartment at the Austin Homes Apartments, S. Bell Street, East Knoxville.
Shooting in East Knoxville, Rutledge Pike near Magnolia
Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, around 9PM, a father and son were shot while driving in their car at 4315 Rutledge Pike near the BP-Kenjo Market. This is the fourth shooting for the first quarter of 2013 near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue, Rutledge Pike, and Asheville Highway. The three earlier shooting resulted in deaths.

Ninety-six percent of the 2013 shootings were in the City of Knoxville. Seventy-one percent of the 2013 shootings were in East Knoxville. One hundred percent of the 2013 deaths from shootings were in East Knoxville.
Shooting in North Knoxville, Lonsdale community
Monday, April 1, 2013, around 10 PM, a shooting was reported on the 2100 block of Texas Avenue near McPherson Street, a block from the Friendshop Missionary Baptist Church, Lonsdale community in North Knoxville. A man was shot in the chest.
Eighteenth shooting for East Knoxville in 2013
Monday, April 1, 2013, around 11 PM, a man was shot while sitting in a van on Pleasant Knoll Lane near Brooks Avenue, a block from the Lemon Seney United Methodist Church, in East Knoxville.
Another shooting in East Knoxville
Friday, April 5, 2013, around 3:15 AM, KPD responded to hearing gunshots. A man was shot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and S. Chestnut Street in East Knoxville. The intersection is just a block or so from The Love Kitchen and less than 1,800 feet from at least four churches.

Monday, April 8, 2013, around 10 PM, a shooting was reported at 8709 Glen Echo Drive, near Gleason Road in West Knox County. It's being reported the male homeowner shot at another man in a domestic-related incident.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013, around 5:45 PM, a woman was shot in the leg outside a residence on 2233 Quail Hollow Road, north of Middlebrook Pike, in West Knoxville.
Twentieth shooting for East Knoxville in 2013
Wednesday, April 10, 2013, around 7:30 PM, a shooting was reported at 320 South Hall of Fame Drive, Arbor Place Apartments, East Knoxville. No injuries were reported from the shooting.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013, around midnight, one person was shot near the 400 block of McConnell Street in East Knoxville (City), which is close to the senior citizens Residences at Eastport and Walter P Taylor Homes in East Knoxville (City).

Saturday, April 20, 2013, a man was shot while near the intersection of McSpadden Street and West Woodland Avenue, in Western Heights, North Knoxville (City).

Tuesday morning, April 23, 2013, a man was shot at his residence, 3800 block of Fairmont Boulevard in North Knoxville (City). It is reported the man was trying to prevent another man from stealing his marijuana.
Fourth shooting in North Knoxville in April
Monday morning, April 29, 2013 around 4 AM, a shooting near the intersection of Broadway and Cecil Avenue in North Knoxville (City). One person was taken to the hospital.
Fifth shooting in East Knoxville in April
Twenty-second shooting in East Knoxville for 2013.
Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, around 1 AM, in response to a fight outdoors, a security guard shot a patron of the Elks Club in East Knoxville, 3919 Holston Drive. The Elks Club is right next door to the City of Knoxville Burlington Fire Station #6.
The Elks Club security guard is also a Knox County Schools security guard.

Friday morning, May 10, 2013, around 4:30 AM, a man with several gunshot wounds arrived at Tennova Hospital. The police "he was likely shot on Cecil Avenue."
Shots fired in South Knoxville
Thursday, May 16, 2013, around 11:40PM, gunshots were reported coming from the Montgomery Village Apartments on Daylily Drive. A driver was passing by the area on Sims Road and their car was hit by a stray bullet.
Drive-by shooting in South Knoxville
Sunday, June 2, 2013, around 10PM, a drive-by shooting was reported at the intersection of Joe Lewis Road and Maryville Pike, near Montgomery Village apartments, in South Knoxville. Two men were injured.
South Knoxville teen accidentally shoots self
Monday, June 3, 2013, around 11:50 AM, a 17 year old boy was walking around the Montgomery Village apartment complex on Joe Lewis Road in South Knoxville and accidentally shot himself in the leg. The pistol was stolen.
Third shooting in 3 days, North Knoxville this time
Tuesday, June 4, 2013, around 3:15AM, a man was shot in the stomach while at 1909 Minnesota Ave in the Lonsdale community. This is the third shooting in three days.
Fourth shooting in 4 days, East Knoxville this time
Wednesday morning, June 5, 2013, around 12:10AM, a woman fired a shotgun at her front door to scare off a possible home invasion attempt by two young males. The incident occurred at 1940 Linden Avenue in East Knoxville.
Fifth shooting in 6 days, North Knoxville again
Friday morning, June 7, 2013, around 12:30 AM, a woman "was shot in the lower back after a bullet entered the left rear door of the vehicle and went through the driver's seat." The shooting occurred at the Ridgebrook apartments on Ridgebrook Lane off of Western Avenue, which is next to Malcolm Martin Park and Knoxville College, in North Knoxville. Sixth shooting in 6 days, death in North Knoxville
Friday, June 7, 2013, around 11:45AM, a 21 year old woman, mother of twins, died from wounds received from a drive-by shooting at 1430 Nolan Avenue in Mechanicsville. This shooting occurred less than a half mile from the earlier shooting today, in Mechanicsville, just one house down from Knoxville College.
KPD has arrested two men, both from Memphis, for the murder.
Neighbors argue, Shooting in South Knox County
June 12, 2013, around 4:30PM, two neighbors argue at their 1208 Bays Mountain Road homes in South Knox County. One neighbor obtains his handgun from inside his residence and shoots the other.
Man accidentally shoots wife, North Knoxville
June 13, 2013, around 2:30AM, a man handling his gun accidentally shoots his wife in the leg. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of Elm View Drive in North Knoxville.
Shooting in West Knoxville, La Rumba Restaurant & Bar
June 15, 2013, around 2:15AM, two men were shot while at the La Rumba Restaurant & Bar, 4900 Chambliss Avenue, just a block or so down from the Panera Bread on Kingston Pike, near Kroger and Mayo's, in West Knoxville.
