It's official. Tony Snow, of Fox News, set to replace Scott McClellan as press secretary.
Of course, it all makes perfect "business sense."
Why have two propaganda operations when you can have just one?

Snow Job? Snow News is Good News?
Oh dear God. I suppose it could be worse (but only just barely). Bill O'Reilly must have been too busy at the Falafel Hut to be bothered with the job opportunity. My favorite bit of information in the article was the revelation that Snow wanted to be sure that he would not just be the talking head for an administration governed by talking heads but that he would get to join in on making policy decisions. Oh Goody.
I'm not sure a better man
I'm not sure a better man could have been chosen. Tony Snow is an exceptional man that understands the issues and knows how to communicate. Great pick for a great administration.
The commenters above are just just singing that oh-so-tiring ABS song...
I agree with reddog. I
I agree with reddog. I can't wait for Tony to explain these quotes:
– Bush has “lost control of the federal budget and cannot resist the temptation to stop raiding the public fisc.” [3/17/06]
– “George W. Bush and his colleagues have become not merely the custodians of the largest government in the history of humankind, but also exponents of its vigorous expansion.” [3/17/06]
– “President Bush distilled the essence of his presidency in this year’s State of the Union Address: brilliant foreign policy and listless domestic policy.” [2/3/06]
– “George Bush has become something of an embarrassment.” [11/11/05]
– Bush “has a habit of singing from the Political Correctness hymnal.” [10/7/05]
– “No president has looked this impotent this long when it comes to defending presidential powers and prerogatives.” [9/30/05]

I agree with RedDog
Keep up the good work! Perhaps Bush's approval rating will be in the 20s by July.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Right-on-Red-Dog
Ditto:
At this point, it doesn't really matter who is behind the podium as long as Bush, Cheney, et al are still in The White House.
Rove is back in front of the Grand Jury, polls are at an all time low, and Democrats are starting to sing from the same songbook.
Tony who?
As R. was saying...
Great pick for a great administration.
The clarion call of the dead-enders.

If I had linked to TownHall
If I had linked to TownHall (like j4 did) the jeers would have been mighty - can only the progressives play it both ways?
If you actually read the columns and put the "quotes" in context they are of a nature that both the president and his admirers would agree. Could Snow's appointment suggest that President Bush is not afraid of constructive criticism?
Could Snow's appointment
Could Snow's appointment suggest that President Bush is not afraid of constructive criticism?
No.
Let's see him forgo canned public appearances with pre-selected audience members from now on. Let's see him stop relegating protesters to "free speech zones." Let's see him call off his surrogates when it comes to smearing political opponents.
Then we'll see.
