How bout them Vols!!!!!!!! (
How bout them Vols!!!!!!!!
( A little history lesson here. Many Georgia fans will tell you that "How bout them" is a phrase that originated with the Georgia Bulldogs in the early eighties when they signed Hershal Walker. That is a bald faced lie and completely in line with the moral character of most people from Georgia. The origin of the phrase "How bout them," lies with Burt Reynolds' title character from "W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings" and the real quote is
"How bout them Tennessee Vols?"
As we all know the answer was "I don't give a damn about no Tennessee Vols." at which point a double barreled shotgun was leveled and rounds released. I have no idea what came over me or why this is relevant but it probably has something to do with sidewalks around homeless shelters.)
Literate people tend to lump
Literate people tend to lump Them Vols and Bulldogs people in with people who lump most people in Georgia in with people who don't know that it should be THOSE dogs and vols. I've often wondered about people who are proud of their language disfunctions and I need to lump them alltogether somehow, but "Go Vols" anyhow, now that Ga. Tech lost badly.
WhitesCreek
Yunkus..remember him? Played for Whack Hyder in the 60's.
Didn't Tech win some sort of early season tourney back in the day..in North Carolina? And I think went to the NIT?
Saw Yunkus vs Big Bob Lienhard of Georgia.
I do remember him. I was at
I do remember him. I was at Ga Tech 68-69. I wasn't much of a basketball fan in those years, until a few years later when one of my Junior Achievement students gave me tickets to see the Hawks with Pete Maravich and I got totally hooked on the spectacle.
Best Draft Pick Ever!
Never forget when the Hawks drafted the Pistol.I was one happy camper!
Saw the Pistol in his last SEC game @ Georgia,in '70.
BTW,Tech & Georgia are still playing in the same gym they were playing in when you were @ Tech.
And I'm thinkin' you saw Maravich @ Tech's gym?
In football Georgia wrecked Tech..47-8...in '68.
But the Jackets got Dooley, for the first time,in '69..
6-0.
Would love to see Tech & Tennessee play in football every year.
Hot Damn!
Always thought the best Vol 5 was the '76-'77 bunch.
Went 22-5/4-2 vs the top 10.
3 NBA 1st round draft picks(King,Grunfeld,Johnson).
King & Maravich,IMO,are the best players..EVER..in SEC history.
But these hardwood Vols have just passed them with their historic win vs Ohio State!!!
BEAT THE SPARTANS!!!!!!
