UPDATE: Never mind. Just go here and keep hitting refresh. (Brought to you by Exxon/Mobil according to the banner ads. Are they talking about the election or just the returns?)

UPDATE: WOW! Look at this:
Hamilton, 10% of precincts reporting:
Corker 20,749 50%
Ford, Jr. 20,460 49%

UPDATE: Corker pulling away in Hamilton:
Hamilton 75% of precincts reporting
Corker 45,055 52%
Ford, Jr. 40,591 47%

UPDATE: Knox County early vote in:
Ford 43.39%
Corker 55.61%

Tennessee House 18th

UPDATE: Bleh.

My family is very upset, it is looking like Ford is going to loose our state and VA is also going to go to the republicans.

Please let us know the truth!

Which is why they can't call it. There were still a couple hundred people in line to vote at several precincts in Nashville/Davidson at 7:00 (poll closing). The ones I saw were in South Nashville, East Nashville, and Germantown.

No funny business... but it was odd to see how they only had 3 or 4 voting stations for some of these locations, given the turnout.

Expect a late night.

So far

So far, only two Southern Congressional districts have flipped parties from R to D: NC-11 (Shuler's new seat) and FL-16 (Foley's former district). It never ceases to amaze me that working people continue to vote against their own best interests.

No districts anywhere in the country have flipped from D to R.

Monetary settlement now!

When CNN called that one, I immediately called a friend with whom I cleaned and gutted a catfish in Hazel Creek. That morning at Eagle Creek we ran into two entomologists collecting butterflies and dragonflies on the USDOT tab. They got a little of the $16M in U.S. taxpayer currency Taylor spent studying whether to build a billion-dollar road no one wants through Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Shuler's win is sweet, but not as sweet as the belly filets baked in foil with mushrooms and lime juice in the coals.

And now these words from our sponsor...

ExxonMobil would love us to believe that they're giving us "ultra clean" diesel fuel out of the goodness of their hearts.  What they're not saying in the ad is that they are only complying with the EPA's new required mandate to cut sulfur, after fighting the regulation tooth and nail.

The most amazing figure of the night

Out of all the numbers flowing past tonight, here's the one that astonishes me the most:

Harold Ford, Jr. got 45% of the vote in Union County.

Think about that for a few months and get back to me. I mean, damn.

--Socialist With A Gold Card

I just realized that Montana

I just realized that Montana looks good, then there's VA...

Could Harold still squeak the big city vote?

volwoman's picture

FactChecker, with Shelby in,

FactChecker, with Shelby in, I don't think he can make up 59,000 in what's left in Nashville. Still hoping though.

Factchecker's picture

OK

My quick look is that it's down to Nashville, where Ford is up by about 24,500 votes w/ 43% reporting.  If that margin holds, the lead should wind up to be about 57,000.  The current margin is about 58,000!

Check my numbers, but this could be long nail-biter!

Stick Thrower's picture

Still seems too close to call

I'm with factchecker... if Davidson numbers are accurate and representable across the county, Ford is going to pick up another 53,000 at least... pretty close. I'm surprised CNN is projecting Corker at this point.

Stick Thrower's picture

New numbers.

Never mind. Davidson jumped to 80% reporting. MSNBC attributes Corker victory to racist Tennesseans.

Socialist With A Gold Card's picture

With 91% of the precincts in

With 91% of the precincts in TN reporting, Junior is down by a disheartening 58,000 votes (51% to 48%). That'll be hard to overcome. Missouri is still a bit early to call, but the D is behind by four percentage points. That leaves Montana and Virginia; if they both go blue, that'll make it 50-50 in the Senate, with Darth Cheney casting any tie-breaking votes. We've rescued the House from the dark side, but the Senate is still iffy.

On balance, it's been a very good night for the good guys.

Montana!

Democrats need three seats.

Webb currently has the slightest of leads in VA.

People who know more about MO than I do are speculating that there are enough uncounted blue precincts left to put McCaskill over the top.

The balance of power may all come down to Big Sky Country.  Tester is leading, but it's still early.

Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.

50-50 Senate

That's all right. The House votes to impeach, then the Senate hears the testimony. To paraphrase SayUncle's line, we don't need to convince all 50 Republicans, just one.

Shocker amongst the ruins...

50.35% HAROLD FORD, JR.
47.68% BOB CORKER

Final results from Montgomery County.
