Sunday's KNS has an editorial supporting the Ten Year Plan (and criticizing Knox Co. Mayor Tim Burchett in the process) along with an extensive roundtable discussion among supporters and opponents.
Ron Peabody publicly admits that TYP Choice won't name its members because they support Haslam for governor and they don't want to cause him any problems.
It's interesting they want Haslam to be governor but are vehemently opposed to one of his marquee compassionate conservative evangelical programs.

TYP and the County Mayor
Well, he is at it again. He had months, if not years to oppose the TYP, yet he waited to block progress on this well thought out, well researched plan that was approved by County Commission in order to create some lame objection to the work of this Committee. He claims that he has talked to the 'real people' who are involved with this issue'. Who? When? Why?
This is the 3rd instance since he was elected Mayor of his over-reaching his authority with incorrect opinions and advice. The first was severance pay for County employees who "resign". The second is his "announcement" that the County MUST increase premiums and co-pays on all County employees health plans...claiming that "NO insurance companies had direct involvement" in his new orders. Yeah, right.
And of course now is this outrageous dictum to hold hostage all the homeless folks already approved for their first secure places to live. If he had read all the details of the TYP, he would have learned that there are and will be a set of rules and responsibilities each person or family will have to meet to be approved, including drug and alcohol use. Holding up funding for this part of the TYP is ridiculous, hurtful to those waiting for a secure apartment, and most likely discrimatory as well. Who is advising him on all these hair-brained 'decisions'?

The metal shed should be
The metal shed should be ashamed to stand for forcing drunks into our neighborhoods. Ron Peabody won this hands down. One big facility where the problem is which is on Broadway near the missions is the answer to this and not exporting city problems to god fearing neighborhoods. If we had a real conservative candidate for governor and not some moderate you would never see this socialist garbage here.
