Stacey has quite a history with his rental houses. Here's the latest.

This is probably the dump

This is probably the dump right behind the food co-op that SC at one time rented out to his bud Randall Parker, who used to run against Harry TIndell. Harry beat his butt two or three times, so we dodged that bullet. I took a picture of it once -- I think we ran it, although I can't quite remember. It would be interesting to look at all his properties, since he tells people in Nashville that he's a "historic preservationist."

Here's another little Campfield goody I missed over the holidays:

Weird piece of legislation. Does Stacy have a personal problem with child support?

Possible Ethics Violation

This part of the story should be officially investigated:

"They allege Campfield threatened to sue them during a meeting at the house Wednesday morning and use his influence to out-muscle them if they tried to spread the word about the situation"

I swear I'm too old to let

I swear I'm too old to let these guys piss me off as much as they do--
But WHY do people vote for trash like him? And R. Larry Smith? And Scooby Moore? Bill Phillips? Phil Ballard?
Can't they see these guys coming?
And for whoever that was who complained that I'm too partisan, my gut used to react exactly the same way to Bill Owen, back in the day. Phony doesn't begin to describe them.
I just saw an obituary for Mildred Truan, who died last week at the age of 97 --
Back during the last regularly-scheduled county election, I wrote a story about R. Larry coming to her house and planting his yard sign inside her picket fence, even though she had a James McMillan sign there. When Mildred told him she was supporting James, he told her "You better support me, because I'm going to win." Later when I asked him about it, he claimed that the guy next door, who had purchased Mildred's property but left her a life estate, had given him "permission." This, of course was a lie, and wouldn't have washed anyhow, since a life estate entitled her to enjoy her home any way she chose. Mildred wasn't the only elderly woman I found who complained about R. Larry -- Channel 6 (I think) picked up the story, and a couple of ladies had similar accounts of his bullying.
Larry has a bad history with women.
Anyhow, back to Campfield -- his treatment of his tenants isn't one bit out of character. I don't know how anybody who votes for him can look at themselves in the mirror.

Now, why the jump to

Now, why the jump to conclusions, ya'll? You know a crack commando team composed of Hysteric Preservationists poured that sewage into the basement so that the city could take Campfield's property and give it to some favored developer.

Pumping raw sewage into the environment.

Sounds like Stacey when he opens his mouth.

Truly stupid bunch in that district to elect and re-elect this scumlord.

He just needs to get out of the business...

he's not a competent landlord and evidently has a mean streak making him unsuitable for that kind of career.
Why people keep voting for him ?
They are republicans and will vote for any jerk who comes across as a conservative.

ForaProgressiveKnoxville's picture

I'm a republican....

And didn't vote for him and tried like hell to get others to vote against him. And as a rental owner also, I can't fathom that he has knowingly allowed sewage to seep in his basement and did nothing then try to suck it out...Just ridiculous

Ayn Rand's picture

I bet he owes

back property taxes on all of them. When cold busted a few years back for owing them on six of the properties he held he claimed that if Knox County really needed the money he owed, they could come collect it. Another efficient conservative.

The comments attached to the NS story are seriously funny, with Campfield firing back under the nom de guerre "Anon a Moose," attacking another poster for not capitalizing "I".
He's pretty outnumbered, though and needs frequent poster "The truthwillsetyoufree" to post a link to the Truth Squat.

Question for Rikki, or someone else who might know -- who would prosecute SC for pumping raw sewage into the stormwater drain, the feds? That video looks pretty conclusive.

rikki's picture

Federal NPDES Phase II

Federal NPDES Phase II compliance was the driver behind the county's recent rewrite of its stormwater regs, and the whole point of that is basically to deputize cities and counties as enforcers of federal water standards, so I think city or county engineering is probably first in line for assessing fines for pumping sewage into storm drains. If they fail to act, the next step would probably be a complaint to TDEC. Legislation passed by the state in 2007 empowers citizens to file complaints with agencies or courts without having to prove standing (like living directly downstream from where Campfield pumped the sewage), so anyone willing to stick their neck out could get involved. Tennessee Clean Water Network is usually willing, and I'm sure they understand the laws better than I do.

Read it at Brian's Blog. The truth squad is in action no matter what you think. This is about the local rag taking up for the mayor in his fight against rep Campfield. Coincidence that they went after Tim Hutchison and Scott Moore and now the rep. They want the rep out of there. This is another reason Brian's Blog is for Zach Wamp a true Tennessean for Governor.

Brians Babble

I mean blog. Does ANYONE read Brian's Blog? I have happened across it once or twice, it's quite humorous really. I have never seen one person write in third person so many ways, nor come up with that many 'anonymous' screennames to back himself up. I get a kick out of it.
I stopped reading it, so it cut the number of viewers by half.

My favorite line from Brians babbling was something to the effect of Brian (aka anonymous) asked himself about sending a link to the new Superintendent of Schools, to which Brian replied to himself "Brians Blog has it on good authority that Super McIntyre is an avid Brians Blog reader, so no need to send the link. I welcome Dr. McIntyre to comment."

Yeah Right! Like I'm sure Dr. McIntyre had nothing better to do in his first month here than to search out and read Brians Blog. Ah---Always good for a laugh.

I read Brian's Blog. Does

I read Brian's Blog.

Does that mean I always agree with it, or always believe it?

No. But then again I don't always agree or believe everything that's posted here.

But I believe that discussion and debate on issues are important, even if I don't like everything that's said, or how it's said.

Ever read some of the circulars that Samuel Adams sent out before Independence was declared?

That's politics.

Does Brian have an agenda? Yes, but really, don't we all?
And I'm usually too caught up in mine to worry about everyone else's.

I admire you for reading the TroothSquat's blog. Query: Do you take it seriously or do you read it for laughs?

I don't read anything for laughs. Everything I read, on the Internet or elsewhere, is for information.

That isn't to say I accept everything I read, anywhere, without checking or re-checking.

You are comparing a web log whose purpose it is to suck up to status quo GOP politicians to Sam Adams, the firebrand of the American Revolution?
Whatever--

We tend to believe that everything written during great American events, such as the struggle for Independence, was written without exaggeration, without bias to affect shape opinion, and with an honest attempt to present the argument or issue accurately and factually.

Anyone who knows how the Patriots portrayed and presented the Boston Massacre or British colonization itself knows that the portrayals and presentations were sometimes far, far, less than accurate.

It is the nature of the business of politics.

Besides, to suggest that the local GOP is monolithic is assuming a lot.
