When I saw WATE last night I finally knew why my house shook yesterday afternoon, the blasting over near 4th and Gill. No wonder the 4th and Gill residents are worried about damage. I'm on the other side of Braodway at least a mile from the site and felt it pretty strongly. Stacey

.24 inches
when they were blasting last fall for the Glenwood bridge, the seismograph they placed in the yard next door indicated that my BRICK house moved .24 inches. TDOT claims that is within acceptable limits. I think we ought to get a tow truck and go move some TDOT officials homes .24 inches and see how they feel.
Their blasting earlier this week at Cherry Street was more violent than the Thursday blast near Hall of Fame Drive, all the way over in ONK/4G.
Your Area Has a Lot to Worry About
You guys have plenty to worry about. No mention on the news of the shooting that took place on Jefferson Ave. at noon on Thursday 3/8 that blocked the street down and sent someone to the hospital. No mention on the news the shooter came back that same eveing and fired 20 more rounds into two houses. No mention about the recent break-ins and car windows being busted!! Now you've got to worry about your houses falling off their foundations due to consturction blasting. Gee, you guys should move to Turkey Creek!
worry
I just rent the half of a crappy house that I live in fear of being gentrified out of. I did hear something on the news about the shooting. I can't even afford the gas to drive to Turkey Creek, but when I hit the big time I want to live in the new downtown they are building around Northshore. Stacey
duh
I thought you had left the blogosphere. Anyway, re-gentrification is on its way to my neighborhood and was the whole reason I had to leave my old neighborhood. Houses are sold remodeled and rents go sky high.I was wanting short stuff to know I'm not a way cool mansion dweller from 4th and Gill. Stacey

I believe the technical term for that phenomenon is "Huxtablication."

Yeah, mid-late eighties was a bit early for Bed Stuy.

Metulj,
In case you missed a class in communication 101......Stacey was saying exactly what you repeated.....maybe not in your EXACT words.....but then who died and decided you were a know it all....you, you, you!!!!
Move to Turkey Creek?
Yeah...I was a Farragut dweller once. I moved in just about the time of the Radio Shack execution murders then the Village Green home invasion but a little before Scott Loveday was murdered for less than $5 while standing at the corner of Kingston Pike and Lovell Road. I had left before the gun fight that broke out in a west Knoxville subdivision and before the dead body was found at The Pinnacle at Turkey Creek. In my 3 short years there, I was the victim of theft and random vandals...
Happy in Fourth & Gill,
Bill
East vs. West
Pittman,
I would reply with a list of murders, shootings and home robberies for your area, but I don't believe this blog would have the space. The difference between your east end and out west end is that violent crime isn't occurring on a daily basis. And yes, every now and again the east has enough gas to go west and committ crimes such as the Scott Loveday and the Radio Shack invasion. Too bad they didn't stay at their own end of town. Otherwise, West it a wonderful sunny place to be.
Who, exactly, is "they"?
Who, exactly, is "they"?
Who is They
They...that don't work, They.....that survive with their hands in the tax payers pocket, etc.....and yes...I can hear the rantings of Corporate American criminals....but their not holding a gun to my head in my neighborhood.
short stuff, this is pretty

I take it these are your personal opinions.

I believe you have a bit of an attitude toward the disadvantaged. Your anger is obvious. You might want to chill a bit.
East vs. West????
Ah ShortStuff, you my friend are misinformed. According to representatives from KPD, Old North Knoxville was the safest of Knoxville's neighborhoods and fortunately, violent crime doesn't seem to be a problem in Fourth & Gill and from what I can see...it is just as sunny in Fourth & Gill as it is in Farragut plus I can walk or bike to symphony, opera, UT games, Market Square, etc. etc. I must admit that it isn't for everyone; some prefer the cookie cutter cluster of west Knoxville. It doesn't have to be "East vs. West" as you title your post; both can be great places. In my neighborhood, people pay to come see the uniqueness of houses at home tours...very telling.
All the best,
Bill

Mr. Cletus
Welll....Mr, Mrs or Ms Cletus, who might you be. I believe you may be talking about my mother.....and yes....these opinions are mine. Tell us who you are. More importantly explain how people who don't work and have their hands in the pocket of taxpayers buy homes. I think your being petty and taking the opportunity exploit the situation. Shame on you.
petty
Bloggers can be the pettiest folks, I think metulij knew what I meant, just getting caught up in semantics. ShortStuff, I thought you meant you lived on Jefferson but mayne you just work there. Anyway, Peace Out. Stacey
