Do they play "Kansas" over the PA system at the Register of Deeds office?

So bizarre! Who knows how many partiers we have over there. More goes on in the Bible belt than you'd think. If this was Cali she could get herself a med. card. I wonder if the Locketts party as well?

Give us ten years and pot

Give us ten years and pot will be legal all over the western US.  And I don't mean just for medical purposes.

Already a majority favor legalization in one national poll.

(link...)

A 53 percent majority favored legalization of marijuana: The support was 61 percent among Democrats, 55 percent with Independent voters, and 43 percent among Republican voters.

Wonder how long it will take TN to re-legalize.

Former Law Directors wife!

OMG. The employee is the wife of John Owings, caught smoking in a Mercedes. Hey, do they confiscate the car here in TN? Will they do a search of the house for more pot?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Heh. And then it would only be 10:05.

Now I'm wondering how you tell the difference between a government employee and a stoner. Apparently you can't!

(OK, sorry, that was a low blow. To stoners.)

Shiiiittt...

How is it she can work some place so long and just now get caught smokin'? Just how stressful can the job be?

This is definitely a Cheech and Chong episode. I mean really, in the City County building parking garage? She should have just driven across the bridge to SoKno. That would be normal behaviour on the south side.

Hizhonor:  "Yada, yada, yada.  Do you have any questions?"

Margaret Owings:  "Yeah, man.  Who cuts your haaair?"

Hizhonor:  "Bailiff, whack her pee-pee."

Deeds Rocks. Man.

Well, I gotta say, the Register of Deeds office has always been a decent county office to deal with. Looking up records for our neighborhood history project was, well... no problem. Whatever gets them through the day.

I'm curious why comments are enabled on this post but not the "Unfortunate" Bill Hobbs post. Bill and Anna Hobbs have defended themselves on Nashvilleistalking.com (a really weird and probably a terrible idea). Is enabling/not enabling comments an option now with the Knoxviews redesign? If so, I think that's a good idea... just wondering if I missed something about it.  ??

Stick Thrower, re. enabling/disabling comments:

That feature has been there all along but rarely used. This seemed like an appropriate time to use it.

Bubba, this is one of the rare times I'll disagree with you.

The Hobbs case is an absolutely classic example of domestic abuse denial. If I hadn't heard this tired old "he didn't mean to do it" story dozens (maybe hundreds) of times, maybe I'd feel the same way. It sounds very similar in its broad outlines to the Bill Phillips case, minus the deadly weapon, for example.

I've never been accidentally slugged in the jaw and I don't need to know Hobbs personally to know that he is an unforgiving, brutal judge of others in similar situations. A man who gives no quarter has no right to expect to receive it.

Disagree in that the comments on a he said she said personal matter should be open to let people express themselves? That will advance meaningful discussion.

I thought it was a good idea to keep the bile in Nashville. People can express themselves silly on Post Politics or what used to be NIT.

 Nine, an assault warrant

Nine, an assault warrant is not a personal matter. If it were the former Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale instead of the Hobbses, I've got a pretty good idea what you'd be saying.

Not a Hobbs fan. Don't care for his tactics. That isn't the point. If memory serves when the material hit the fan with the Ragsdale's, RNeal had the same approach. It seems consistent. I was surprised you disagreed.

Don't really remember, but adultery's not a crime (except under sharia law). Assault is, and it's not a private matter. There's a reason the state prosecutes domestic assault cases even when the victims change their minds.
