The Mrs. snapped this photo a few minutes ago:

The blizzard lasted about fifteen minutes. It was 37 degrees, so no accumulation. The weather forecast calls for light rain mixed with some snow, with some accumulation in higher elevations above 2500 ft.

Better put your snow tires on and head to the store.
White-out conditions here in
White-out conditions here in Karns. Well not exactly. Fortunately the pantry and fridge are well stocked.
One minor disaster was averted when I discovered the bird feeder empty and a queue of chickadees and titmice sitting in the crepe myrtle. They scolded me with all sorts of 'fowl' language as I refilled it.

hail storm last night
KR did you get that hail storm last night? Lightning, thunder and when it was over our decks had a solid quarter inch covering of sleet. Sleet, hail, sleet, hail, I always mix the two up.
Weatherman called it thundersleet
Rain - water droplet in a cloud freezes, leaves the cloud as snow, melts before reaching the ground
Freezing rain - water droplet in a cloud freezes, leaves the cloud as snow, melts before reaching the ground, then freezes once it hits a cold surface
Sleet - water droplet in a cloud freezes, leaves the cloud as snow, melts, then refreezes before reaching the ground
Snow - water droplet in a cloud freezes, leaves the cloud as snow, reaches the ground without going through any major temperature inversions
Hail - bit of dust in a cloud attracts supercooled water droplet gets tossed up and down in a thunderhead attracting more water droplets, until it finally gets loose from the cloud and makes a dent in your car
hail
I'm in Hardin Valley near the Veterans Nursing Home. I got pelted with the ice just before the start of the UT bball game (7:00 or 7:30 I guess). It was coming down pretty hard, but melted relatively fast.
The temp was showing around 40 here so I figured aloud that it was hail. That lead to a debate about whether or not it can sleet at that temp. I don't think a verdict was ever reached
I woke up again sometime in the middle of the night with it pelting the windows again.
I didn't hear any sleet but
I didn't hear any sleet but we had a thunderstorm about 9 o'clock or so. My bed is just above the carport with a steel roof and I just heard rain every time I awoke last night.
Gino usually makes his rounds about three times every night but he didn't even go out the dog door last night (He gets really lovable and cuddly when he's wet).

All in fun.
blizzard
1. a. a storm with dry, driving snow, strong winds, and intense cold.
b. a heavy and prolonged snowstorm covering a wide area.
2. an inordinately large amount of something all at one time; avalanche.
Blizzards aren't very frequent in the South.:) I'm pretty sure I was in a near blizzard in Montana once, but who knows? A blizzard to a Southern girl might be a light snow to a Montana native.
Technical definition
Wiki:
By this strict definition, Tennessee doesn't see much blizzard action.

I'd rather be cycling.
Its kind of like...
... a snow hurricane, as I heard it put once. It doesn't have quite the wind intensity, but just like rain alone doesn't define a hurricane, snow alone doesn't define a blizzard.

Yeah, me, too. You had what those of us with dual citizenship up here in the north call a snow squall.
