Words are powerful, but
Words are powerful, but just think if there were pictures to prove it! Here's to freedom of speech, religion, and the American Idol finalist performing at the Festival.
Uh...No it's not (imagine British accent)
Just another commercial announcement from our advertisement department...
Those folks...Always making things up.
Yes, listening to Franklin
Yes, listening to Franklin Graham can be excruciating, but that's just plain mean.
No, really
Brentwood's Phil Stacey from last season American Idol fame is one of the Festival's performers.
I heard
I heard that Mike Ragsdale has finagled into the program -- to introduce Franklin, I suppose. Doubt he can sing. -- s.
A good place
yes, this is a good place for all sinners - even Ragsdale.
Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!

So... does this sign mean
So... does this sign mean they are giving Satan top billing?
Exactly! That is what I
Exactly! That is what I thought. Why didn't they put Heaven is Real in big letters? Does formal religion always go for the fear factor?
"Does formal religion always
"Does formal religion always go for the fear factor?"
That's how they rake in the big bucks.
One of the really nice
One of the really nice things about coming to grips with reality is that religion no longer has the power to scare me with the supernatural nonexistant.
What a relief that was...and still is.
Scare tactics such as this,
Scare tactics such as this, makes me wonder, is their fear of Satan stronger than their love of God?
Actually I think it's more like...
They love Satan because he's such a good bogeyman. Without him they wouldn't have half the punch in their arguments when they are proselytizing. They learned the politics of fear a LOOONG time ago and have been using them to bully folks ever since. I think they are actually hoping for him to be real and to pop up one day and announce that he's HEEEEERRRRREEEEE...
They use him as a cudgel to get folks into line with their agenda and keep them there.

A really, really obscure historical comment.
No chance Bush is coming to speak huh? I might have made the trip back to speak out against the war.

That was wild. Al Minor is retired now, and hangs out at my church. Great to read about his earlier life.
And the rest was, well, amazing.

He's got some great stories, that's for sure. I don't think I've heard about the "alter call," but he told a funny story a month or so ago about an experience a young child of his acquaintance had at a local Baptist church.

The Ken Newton mentioned in
The Ken Newton mentioned in the article is bizgrrl's late father. The Charlie Reynolds mentioned is Glenn Reynolds/Instapundit's father.
I've always thought that
I've always thought that Charlie Reynolds's politics explained a lot about Glenn. How do you rebel against a dad like that? You become Instapundit.
Tortured analogy
The Franklin doesn't fall far from the William Graham when it comes to politics and public promotions.

Problem is, these folks are running our government
This same logic that certain churches use is the same logic the Bush "dead enders" are buying:
Hell/Terror + Give me 10%/ Give me civil liberties = salvation.
Negative Advertising:
Yeah, negative advertising... sort of like scaring the fecal matter out of folks with the most extreme worst case theoretical scenarios of global climate change. When promoting something, you do what gets attention. Cut the Jesus believers some slack on this one; it's a standard and effective advertising/publicity tool no matter what you're peddling.
Huge thank you to Mr. Neal
I, as I have probably mentioned, was one of those arrested that night. I had not seen this article and am very grateful that you called my attention to it. Let me make a plea:
There was a great picture taken of Carrol Bible and myself being led across the field in handcuffs; my right hand cuffed to his left and our uncuffed fist raised in the power salute. Carrol had taken an old stripped matress cover and made a pretty nifty robe from it and bootlegged in a sign that said "Let My People Go". My copy was lost many years ago in a flood. If one is still around it would please me no end to get a copy. Great thanks for the article.
