Any sane person's worst nightmare is George W. Bush in possession of the nuclear launch codes.
We've been living the nightmare for the past five years, haven't we? We can only hope to survive the next three without things getting worse (him using them).

It's going to be the longest 3-years in history. Heaven help us all! What's worse, is that America still, by and large, still seems pretty much evenly divided right down the middle. How soooo many people can be soooo dumb as to have voted for Bush twice, I'll never know.
I've been writing the Iran big talk off as a bluff/base-pandering. But I'm really beginning to think we're approaching a Dr. Strangelove moment.
Hersh: "One of the military’s initial option plans, as presented to the White House by the Pentagon this winter, calls for the use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the B61-11, against underground nuclear sites."
Arms Control Wonk: "Long story, short: DOE is making a gi-normous (about 0.6 kt) conventional explosion that is probably a simulation of a B 61 Mod 11 Earth Penetrating Warhead ."
It just occured to me that the Bushies might actually be rationalizing this as a way to improve things in Iraq by stopping Iranian meddling and ending its strategic advantage.
Common sense tells me that any attack on Iran would push Iraq, if not the entire region, completely over the edge and put US troops at terrible risk. But I've found that turning common sense on it's head gives you a pretty good insight into the Mayberry Machiavellis' thinking.

I'd rather be cycling.
