CLARIFICATION: Brian Hornback, former Knox County GOP chairman, said his remarks at the West Knox Republican Club meeting last week that Republicans should be elected to "send a message to the News Sentinel and others that they don't control this town" is because he says the newspaper is a Democratic newspaper. He said his comments had nothing to do with the recent sunshine law case brought against the Knox County Commission, as was stated in Saturday's "On Politics."

That's what I was thinking. On the other hand, they did endorse Bredesen. Oh, wait. Is he a Democrat?

And Jim Haslam
Gas prices rising since Pelosi took control!
So THAT explains why they criticized Bush so strongly while endorsing him and hardly even mentioned the challenger (whoever that was--it's hard to remember).
Or why they publish so many editorials denying the existence of AGW (anthropegenic global warming). Ad nauseam.
I'm surprised he didn't say

If the KNS is a Democratic paper, I am blue.
Moskos - Hartmann Ruined the News-Sentinel
Harry Moskos and Bruce Hartmann destroyed what little credibility was left at the News-Sentinel with their infatuation with Victor Ashe and the fascination with Mike Ragsdale, both of which are embarrassments to the community and have egos the size of the Sunsphere itself.
Ashe's legacy will be the much balleyhooed convention center, which hopefully they will eventually name in his honor, as it's usefullness ends approximately 5 years after its opened, as the convention facilities and booked meetings in Sevier County come on line.
Ragsdale's legacy will be that of a non-responsive government, not responsive to taxpayers, parents of school children, or citizens with bonafide issues with local government. He may actually survive and end his term, however, he's not able to speak on any substantive issue, as he, like the News-Sentinel, are bereft of any credibility and often do more damage when addressing an issue as opposed to saying nothing at all.
Nostalgia
I remember the days when Knoxville had two Republican newspapers, the Sentinel for business Republicans who had been to high school and the Journal for know-nuthin Republicans who hadn't. Hornback's too young to be nostalgic for those days, right?
Liberty and justice for all.

I wonder why our Democratic paper is printing all the fluff pieces for Thompson like they did last year for Corker.
I do remember when I was young, I understood that the Sentinel, which was then an afternoon paper, really WAS a Democratic paper. Or so my staunchly conservative parents learnt me.
