I remember a similar problem with an airplane door when I was changing flights at some airport, not Midway (never flown out of Midway). The pilots were concerned and reviewing the problem. Overhearing the pilots discussion, I decided to change flights, but I didn't have to since the pilots demanded and received another plane.
