KNS v. County Commission: R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Sock it to me! The Knoxville News Sentinel v. Knox County Commission lawsuit goes to the jury this morning. According to this KNS report, Knox County Law Director John Ownings invoked Aretha lyrics in his closing arguments. TCB.
Ordinarily, the evidence and testimony would fall into two piles: one supporting the plaintiffs and one supporting the defense. In this case, it seems like one pile consists of evidence supporting the plaintiffs, and the other consists of testimony by people who appear to have perjured themselves.
It isn't very often that a case can be called a "slam dunk," but this case seems to come pretty dang close. Juries are unpredictable, but the defense in this trial didn't even really present a case.
Maybe Owings' invocation of Aretha was merely a desperate call to a higher power for royal intervention. She is, after all, the Queen of Soul.
To everybody & their brother it looks like the County's position in this thing is sinking like the Mets.
But its not up to everybody & their brother..It's up to the jury & we will see what they think about it sooner or later.
