We've said before, in 2018 Death to Bradford Pears! And in 2021 States starting to ban Bradford Pear trees.
The problem persists.
Bradford Pear trees threaten Tennessee ecosystems.
South Carolina has enacted a ban on new Bradford pear sales effective on Oct. 1, 2024. A ban on the sale and cultivation of the tree in Pennsylvania will also take effect in February of that year
The tree was placed on the invasive species list in Ohio in January 2018, meaning in-state nurseries and landscapers must phase out selling the trees over the next five years.
At least three states have banned these trees outright, and others discourage the public from adding them to their yards.
Now legislation is being proposed in Missouri for a similar ban, while the Kansas Department of Agriculture also considers how to curb the spread of the popular but invasive ornamental pear trees.
Do your part to rid our state of Bradford Pear trees. If you have one or more of these trees in your yard, when financially and physically possible, tear down that tree!

Immigrants
My standard rejoinder is if I wanted to hear someone rail against immigrants I'd go to a Trump rally.
Sure, remove limbs that threaten a structure. I'm OK with a ban on new sales, but I'm shocked at the suggestion that mature trees be removed in these times of global warming.
As far as being invasive, I'm confused. Bradford pears are supposed to be infertile. I don't remember pear seedlings and there's a mature tree across the street. Meanwhile I have numerous seedlings from the redbud three houses down. Yet not once have I heard a call to destroy redbuds, nor would I.
Perhaps I'll find time to post a longer rant in the future.
