From the National Weather Service:
* TEMPERATURE: TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL PUSH HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 105 AND 108 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON AND FROM 102 TO 107 THURSDAY ACROSS THE CENTRAL TENNESSEE VALLEY... ESPECIALLY IN THE VICINITY OF THE KNOXVILLE AREA.
* IMPACTS: DANGEROUS HEAT LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TODAY AND THURSDAY. CHILDREN... THE ELDERLY... AND PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC AILMENTS ARE USUALLY THE FIRST TO SUFFER FROM THE HEAT. HEAT EXHAUSTION... CRAMPS... OR HEAT STROKE CAN RESULT FROM PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THESE CONDITIONS. RIENDS... RELATIVES... OR NEIGHBORS SHOULD CHECK ON PEOPLE WHO MAY BE AT RISK.
A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF VERY HOT CONDITIONS IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. AVOID PROLONGED WORK IN THE SUN OR IN POORLY VENTILATED AREAS... DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND OTHER NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES... AND SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE IN AN AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENT.
