Our conservative base likes to espouse the virtues of states' rights, usually in the context of the right to NOT have to do something, but where is the state action aimed at the development of energy sources that do not require digging up carbon out of the ground and releasing it into the atmosphere? Not so much here. Tennessee doesn't make the radar in a study cited by a NYT editorial yesterday:

about half of the states have broad plans and specific regulations aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions. When fully realized, these actions would cut emissions by over 7 percent between now and 2020 — a sizable distance toward the 17 percent reductions President Obama promised at Copenhagen.

What do Tennessee legislators have on their plate so far this year?

There are several issues to be considered during the 2010 session including but not limited to : Juvenile Sex Offender Registry; Mandate Resolution; Secret Ballot Protection Act; Proof of Citizenship to Vote; Photo ID to Vote; Restaurant Menus; Closing the gun carry permit database; Streamlining government processes; Worker’s Compensation; DUI Interlock; and Wine in Grocery Stores.
