Folks, Roane County is a beautiful place full of great people, but you'd never know it from the news stories our officials seem to get their names printed in.  

I'm sure every county has the same problems but we here in Roane County somehow manage to make the News a bit too much. One of our bigger problems may get solved in the coming election. Seems our Sheriff may be violating the laws of our fair county.

"This is a direct violation of our Purchasing Laws." said the county purchasing agent in a public budget meeting regarding Sheriff Haggard's money spending habits. Seems the Sheriff doesn't like doing paperwork when he spends the people's money. Looks like he blew his budget by almost 135 thousand bucks and didn't want to tell anybody.

 Spent money without an appropriation and spent money without even issuing a purchase order...Bad Sheriff, Bad...

This isn't going to go over very well with the election coming up and the Sheriff has some serious opposition this time. The headlines could have been...
