A campus walk makes the case for UT

We learn a great deal from people not like ourselves and ideas outside our comfort zone. Here that happens. As we walk the campus, the music of our differences becomes sweet song.

As I read this article, I remembered what I love about living in a university town. The diversity. Mark took me back through the many times I walked the campus and it felt good. When ever I think about moving I hope for a place with a college, and a river.

Diversity and Inclusion...Dept at UTK...gone.

It is such a shame that Mark didn't submit this column about 2 or 3 months ago...before the uneducated Legislator from District 18 got hysterical in his right-wing position in Nashville. Due to his ludicrous lack of interest in any humans who do not look like him, talk, walk, like him..or appear to be from....oh no...another culture, country, disabled or gay, another color for sure. He carried on with this rant until he convinced enough OTHER uneducated seat mates to DESTROY that department, cut all funding and fired 4 UT employees...just because...well, because they had NOTHING else to do.
Pitiful. Sad. but oh so true.

Shared Outrage, but...

I share Mary's strong opposition to these barbs aimed at UT, but it should be mentioned I first wrote about such acts on Jan. 29th of this year.
