UT is 0-2 in the SEC and 2-3 overall. Next up is Georgia (3-2 overall), @ Alabama (5-0), and South Carolina (4-1). It's going to be ugly in October, and the fans are restless over at the KNS:

• ct_vol: "Discusting!"

• homermoosevol: "He [Kiffin] has a huge learning curb coming."

• islandvol: "Face it, Fulmer left the cubard bare on offense except for Hardesty."

• snafu14: "...the recievers think that there's a better chance of getting hit by a meteorite than a Crompton pass so they don't think about making a play."

• chrisw2967: "this team is devided and will only get worse."

• peydey: "The favorite player on any loosing team is the backup QB."

• rickytopvol: "If JC had 2 more years of eligibility left he could probably get Kiffin fired too."

• erwinvol: "when the worst qb in the nation hits a receiver in the side of the head you know there is some miscommunication."

• wilhelm16: "It's like Kiffin thought SEC football was all press conferences and hanging out with Erin Andrews."

• govols26: "if you are going to a D-1 school for free, I don't care where that ball is- if it hits your hands, you'd better catch it."

• 1vavolfan: "Kiffin should have lowered expectations this year."

• rj_vol: "Mission accomplished."

• rj_vol: "Instead of thinking to change his strategy, he changed his pullover."

Florida State made a game of

Florida State made a game of it.

Florida State made it exciting.

Florida State ALMOST came back to beat Boston College.

And this, more than any other reason, is why the iconic Bobby Bowden must step down as Florida State's coach. Because FSU's program should never, ever reach a point where we start saying of the Seminoles, "Yippee, at least they played 'em close."

UT and FSU have something in common this year, new coach/old coach, "at least they played 'em close."

Worst passing attack ever

I've never seen a more inept passing attack than the Vols. Whether it's Crompton's arm, Crompton's head, his receivers hands (or their heads), or just bad coaching - this passing game is positively atrocious.

Oh, there's value there.

My theory, backed up by no real knowledge, is that comments are a huge driver of unique page views, which KNS's ad sellers use to demonstrate benefit to people who pay the KNS for online advertising. 99.999999997% of the time comments serve no purpose even remotely related to the enterprise of journalism. Not at KnoxNews.

Ugly x2

Couldn't have predicted the backpeddling better than KNS quote that this is a rebuilding year. Let's face the facts folks, regardless of the derailed Lane Train, 1998 ain't ever coming back until there are some drastic recruitment changes on campus, academic and athletic, beginning with getting UT out of the Top 15 Least Beautiful Campuses.

We may find out Al Davis was very right on Kiffen

he may not have what it takes to put a top tier football program togather.

sure the talent level is off this year, but the fall off from the first game of the season to now is downright remarkable and to try and tell fans how bad Nick Stephens is without letting the fans see how he plays is just begging for trouble.

A meltdown and fiasco against Georgia and this year's team will be lost, come undone, and will probably only win one maybe two SEC games.

A $50 million football budget and this is the best money can buy?
