so, it's ok to discriminate

so, it's ok to discriminate against undocumented workers? this story provides evidence as to why cities/counties contract out these services in the first place. they can supposedly keep their hands clean of this messy business.

They cleared trees at my house, nothing but Hispanics

If they want to work in America, register and pay taxes like all Americans do.

The only good thing about Hispanic workers is that they absolutely refuse to pay a union due and they see no benefit to the ongoing existence of a union due and the wholesale absence of any benefit derived from such extortion.

they are paying taxes

Unless the workers were being paid under the table, which it's clear from the article that they were not, they are paying federal income taxes, social security, and the like. Of course, if they are illegal, they aren't filing tax returns to get any of that money back after deductions and adjustments. The social security contributions will never be called in, as it were. Faked SSNs still contribute to the system, on the order of billions of dollars per year by people that will never start drawing social security. And of course, since they live where they work, they pay TN's regressive sales tax. So, they're paying taxes like other estadounidenses.

Of course, illegal workers aren't in a position to organize. But, if you're familiar in the least with the history of farm worker and mining organizing in the west of the US, or with labor history south of the Rio Grande, you'd not make such foolish second sentences.

some of these workers are not

some of these workers are not 'hispanic' at all, but rather indigenous peoples of guatemala, peru, mexico and other countries who speak their own languages. they may, of course, speak spanish as a second language.
