Thinking of you, Kenny
Kenny, we hope we did the right thing by making this gesture intent on sending good Karma your way! You're very dear around here.
(To any passers by with less noble intent, the Lawsons, the Hammonds, and the Shepherds are on watch outside the house, and you don't want to walk in on Gino, inside. Oh yeah...and there's an alarm.)
Get well soon!
Correction
Well, a neighbor just phoned to correct the information I gave Randy. Kenny's by-pass surgery won't be performed until the first of the week.
Meanwhile, he is in ICU, as Randy relates, waiting more comfortably since the insertion of one of those balloon-type devices.
His healing isn't quite as far along as I had understood, then. Let's pull for him on into next week.
Get well Kenny!
You are in good hands over there at Ft Sanders. My wife works there, was born there, our son was born there. Good people all around.
Post a picture of yourself some time.
Best wishes!
Alex

This is Kenny's neighbor and am talking on the phone with him. (oh yeah...I'm not registered). Kenny says: I'm out of ICU until the surgery, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. I'm in room IMC 13. I want to thank everyone for your good wishes and it means a lot to me. I miss you all.
Is he...
Dear Kenny's neighbor who is not registered :-)
Is he asking for a wireless laptop yet?
He's about to go crazy not
He's about to go crazy not being able to get online. He called and had me to read him some of the posts on Knox Views. Hopefully he'll be able to get internet access before too long. He seemed in good spirits when I stopped by today although he was 'grumbling' about one of the nurses on the night shift being too noisy :-)
Hey Redmondkr, get well soon

Well, I slacked and didn't
Well, I slacked and didn't post after Kenny's surgery. His surgery was supposed to be at 2pm and didn't commence till @ 5:15 that evening. We were allowed to go in and see him at @ 9:30 pm. He looked fine, had good color, but was still on the ventilator (sp). I was unable to go see him on Wednesday because of work but am planning on visiting this evening. Phone updates from the hospital have said he is recovering quite nicely but I'm sure his pain will be significant in the coming weeks. I will do my best to continue posting his progress as it becomes available or until he's tired of me posting for him (we've joked that I'll post something and get him kicked off the forum ;-). Anyway, thanks again for all the kind people on here I know Kenny deeply appreciates you and the fact he can call you his friends.
From the desk of Kenny Redmond.

A big thumbs up, KR! It's a relief to know you're on your recovery.
Thanks to Everybody
It has been so wonderful be able to read the kind thoughts and wishes from members of the KnoxViews community, people whom I respect and love.
Ft. Sanders threw me out Sunday afternoon and friends brought me to Steve and Allene's house across the street where I lounged on the recliner and visited with Allie until Steve got home from work about 6:30. Everybody was afraid that Gino would hurt me in his enthusiasm to see me and Steve is the only one who isn't scared of my big baby.
We got my prescriptions filled and came home about ten last night. Gino did just fine. We slept together in the waterbed with Steve in the recliner just in case something went wrong. I feel great this morning and Steve has gone to catch a little sleep as he goes in for his first midnight shift tonight. Gino is watching me like a hawk.
Alex, you are so right about the folks at Fort Sanders. Without exception everyone there has always treated me as though I were family. I could not have asked for better care.
They ended up doing five bypasses and the whole thing was complicated by the fact that I have a vasovagal syncope disorder that keeps causing my heart rate to drop at times when it should be rising. This gave us all more than one anxious moment during the affair.
I must say though that the time I spent in the rooms watching our new president put together his government has had some part in making this experience better for me.
BTW: The doctors say I now have the vital signs of a twenty year old.

It certainly was a beautiful
It certainly was a beautiful day for pictures.
I have gotten to the point
I have gotten to the point where I am now walking for ten minutes three times a day. The instructions say that it must be level and my place is as steep as a cow's face so I do it inside the house.
I have two hallways that form a 'T' and I can make the round from the kitchen to east bedroom to west bedroom and back in about a minute, taking into consideration the fact that I have to step over Gino three times per lap since he places himself smack in the middle of the intersection and looks at me as though I'm surely nuts.
It's a pretty pleasant walk though, I carry an iPod and listen to my 'road mix'.
