The Knox County Board of Health, which was established under the Knox County Charter has been dissolved and reconstituted into an advisory board. Currently, under the State of Tennessee Executive Order No. 77, the Health Department has the authority to put regulations in place. Dr. Martha Buchanan, Senior Director and Public Health Officer at the Knox County Health Department will assume the responsibility while Executive Order No. 77 is in place.
