Special election not a good omen for GOP "repeal it" campaign.
Deutch got an impressive 62% of the vote. And as National Journal’s Ron Brownstein has pointed out, Democrats’ best chance of holding on to the House is to win in the blue and purple districts that are part of the Obama/Dem coalition. Yet perhaps the biggest news here has to do with seniors, who heavily populate that Broward/West Palm Beach district. That seniors -- the demographic group Obama has struggled with -- overwhelmingly stuck with the Democrat is pretty significant.
That's a lot of grannies Obama won't pull the plug on.
I really just want to point out that Florida's 19th Congressional District is directly adjacent to Florida's 22nd Congressional District** which contains within it Hush Windbag's West Palm Beach home.* Ha.

I got my annual physical last
I got my annual physical last week and happened to mention to my doctor that, this time next year, I will be on Medicare.
"Yeah," he said, "If there is such a thing as Medicare this time next year."
My God, the Republicans are now crusading to save Medicare?
He has been my primary care physician for over twenty-five years but little things like the Christian Coalition calendars in all his exam rooms really give me the creeps.

Sometimes I wonder how much of that stuff I could tolerate before I'd have to have a little talk w/ my doctor. If he/she brought it up, I think I'd level with them. It's hard to navigate those waters, though, no doubt.
Something else at play
I pointed out over at my place that in addition to being full of elderly people, this district is also very heavily Jewish. If there was ever going to be a massive backlash against Obama and the Democrats over Israel, it would have been seen here, but it wasn't.
This is also a solid dem
