I'm very happy. Democrats won

I'm very happy. Democrats won majority of the U.S. House. It's something.

Bredesen vs. Blackburn. I thank Bredesen for his great efforts. I feel he did as good a job that could have been done in TN.

Dean vs. Lee. Pretty much same as Bredesen.

Florida, my second home state. Nelson vs. Scott. So far they are calling it for Scott by 55,000 votes. 15 of the state's 6,111 precincts still had not reported vote totals. Scott spent about $66 million, including $51 million out of his own pocket to buy this election. Nelson spent about $25 million, not out of his pocket.

Also, Florida, Gillum vs. DeSantis. DeSantis has been called the winner, 80,000 more votes than Gillum, with more than 8 million ballots cast.

Lawton Chiles is rolling in his grave.

Then there is Georgia.

I was really hoping for U.S.

I was really hoping for U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, MT, to win. It is still too close to call with the republican ahead by 5,000 votes and 80% of precincts reporting.

Also, it looks like Joe Manchin kept his West Virginia U.S. Senate seat. The president worked hard to get rid of him.

They're now projecting Tester (MT) to win and keep his senate seat . Nice.

Congrats to Gloria Johnson.

Congrats to Gloria Johnson. She doesn't give up. A pretty clear victory over Eddie Smith, the incumbent, 11,489 to 9,039.

Greg MacKay was very close against Martin Daniel, another incumbent. I thought he would pull it off but there is only a 744 vote difference.

Thanks to Renee Hoyos for her efforts. She really took one for the team. Kind of hard to go against the very established candidate in East TN.

Thanks to so many of the others that went the extra mile.

Scott Walker lost. So there's that.

Also, the House has subpoena power. Maybe they will use it now. On the other hand, that would probably help Trump by further galvanizing his base against those mean Democrats.

Anyway, Trump is a lock for 2020. Unless he actually shoots somebody in the middle of 5th Ave. Oh, wait, that would probably help him, too.

Closer to home, the TNGOP supermajority prevails. Congrats to Gloria, and props for being willing to throw herself into the viper pit.

Tennessee voters have spoken. They don't want working poor families to have health care. They don't want livable wages. They don't want to pay teachers or educate kids beyond taking stupid tests, or to spend money building better or even enough schools. But they want every man, woman and child walking around armed, they want poor people trapped in lifelong debt to payday lenders, and there's plenty of money for TDOT to build more unneeded roads to line the pockets of their road builder pals. And the beat goes on.

Umm no. See all those suburban Republican districts swing D last night? See the Ds win the gubernatorial races in Michigan and Wisconsin?

Let's remember Trump's EC margin goes away w/o Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. And he's losing them.

R. Neal's picture

Agree, especially Michigan

Agree it is somewhat encouraging, especially Michigan and Wisconsin. He'll just figure out some other way to game the EC, or worse.

Laura Kelly beats Republican

Laura Kelly beats Republican Kris Kobach for governor of Kansas. Why oh why can a state like Kansas have Democratic governors more frequently than Tennessee?

Steve Sisolak looks to be beating the republican candidate for governor in Nevada. This would be the first time Nevada has a Democratic governor since 1999.

They are calling it for Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham to be the next governor of New Mexico replacing a republican governor.

Democrat Gretchen Whitmer will be Michigan’s 49th governor, again replacing a republican.

Laura Kelley might as well be

Laura Kelley might as well be a Republican. She was endorsed by enough of them. And when you control just about every lever of power in the Gov scene you're going to take some losses.

Seriously though, that's it ?

Heller's loss does show that illegal immigration needs to be completely stopped, and legal immigration needs to be severely curtailed. I've got loads of friends from graduate school that immigrated from other countries… but they are going to have to go. You just can't trust them to vote correctly

This is either a very bad joke or one of the most chilling things I've ever seen posted on Knox Views – casual cruelty masquerading as political pragmatism. Disgusting, either way.

Not paying attention?

Seriously though, that's it ?

No. There are other bright spots for Dems, as you well know. And things are looking up for the party "going forward."

Also, it's nice to show positive results for all those who voted for the first time or had to work ridiculously hard to cast votes (mostly non-whites). Proof they can change the world for the better. We all know they will continue that trend.

Remarkable story out of

Remarkable story out of Blount County in Alcoa. With all precincts reporting, newcomer Tanya Martin was behind 47 year incumbent City Commissioner and 35 year Mayor Don Mull by one vote. One vote. This morning after all the absentee ballots were counted, Martin won by five votes, making her the first African-American woman elected to Alcoa City Commission.

(link...)

Edit: Just for clarification, Martin won't automatically be mayor. City Commissioners select one of their own to be Mayor. The also hire a city manager to run the actual day to day operations.

Way to go Dems

I think this was the first election where Democrats fielded candidates in every race and supported them and worked together. I am very grateful to the local and state party that pulled this off and it's the start of a group we can support in this red state that as Randy says, "They don't want working poor families to have health care. They don't want livable wages. They don't want to pay teachers or educate kids beyond taking stupid tests, or to spend money building better or even enough schools."
