We just got back from voting. Don't know how it is in Knox Co., but in Blount Co. it's a mess. We first went to the courthouse, and there wasn't even a place to park so we went to the Everett gym location.

We stood in line for almost an hour. There were about 40 people in line when we got there. One person got tired of waiting and left. After we voted, there were about 60 or 70 people in line. They were bringing out chairs so seniors could sit while they waited.

As previously reported in the media, it is taking FOREVER for Republican voters to complete their ballot. On the section where they pick 14 delegates, they scroll through the 140 or so choices, pick one, then it brings up the page again, they have to scroll through again to pick another, and this repeats. Some people were getting frustrated and asking for help voting and asking if they had to vote for all 14 or any at all. There was a lot of confusion. Needless to say, the Democratic ballot was much simpler and it took less than a minute to vote.

Anyway, tomorrow is the last day of early voting so you might consider getting it over with because election day will be a disaster. If you decide to wait until then, pack a lunch.

It was the longest I've ever

They should have separate booths for Democrats.

Why is it necessary to vote

Why is it necessary to vote for individual delegates?

Good question. Republicans

Good question. Republicans say it is more democratic and more transparent. Not sure many of those in line today would agree.

There was a large sample ballot in the hallway and there was a lot of discussion along the lines of "what is all this?" "who are all these people?" "I don't know any of them" "Do I really have to vote for them?" and so on.

And a better question is, why

And a better question is, why do taxpayers, including Democrats, have to help fund their delegate selection process?

Yep

I went by Downtown West twice today and it was the same situation. Will try tomorrow or wait until March 1. A black man in front of me for the while I queued up surmised that it was an attempt to suppress the Democratic voters. Don't know about that, but I did leave rather than stand in a long line.

I wondered if some (a lot?)

I wondered if some (a lot?) of people were waiting until after this weekend's primaries to see what happened and, for Republicans, who might drop out.

So about 17,000 out of possibly 90,000 or more have voted early. Election day will be a crush.
